We're Still Firmly In QB Purgatory

I hear people say that "we don't appreciate what we have" and must have forgotten about "the QBs between Aikman and Romo".

We're still there. It's just a little prettier.

It's time for this organization to take the QB position seriously again. I'd much rather be on the QB search than be handcuffed to a QB that requires everything to be perfect around him. The margin for error in roster building is incredibly small with a QB of Dak Prescott's skill level. We have to hit on everything to succeed with Dak at QB and that takes a lot of smarts and luck.

You're not going to draft the next Patrick Mahomes if you handcuff yourself to Alex Smith.
Even though you are using Mahomes as a way to justifiably bash the Jones' and Dak, Dak's contract has nothing to do with drafting the next quarterback. KC gave up the 27th pick in 2017, 2018 first rounder and 3rd rounder to get up to the 10th pick in 2017 to get Mahomes. The Jones' could do something similar. I don't see how Dak's bloated contract keeps them from doing that.

Yesterday was a microcosm of the Dak era, which has played out exactly as I and others called it as far back as the end of his rookie season.

He give you a play or two like that beautiful TD throw, which shows real potential, then throw a bunch of head scratchers, leaving you wondering how he got paid. Give you enough to be seen as contenders, but never enough to get over the hump.

The story of his football life.

I’m leery of owner and son, and in turn their personnel staff, finding a qb. They were trying desperately to grab Paxton Lynch and Connor Cook the last time they were looking to draft and develop a qb.
This keeps being brought up, but they didn't cough up enough draft capital to go after either. Instead, they hit on Dak in the fourth....before that they hit on Romo undrafted. The Cowboys also are the ones who drafted Mike White, and developed Cooper Rush, two of the best backups in football right now. Also rumored to have been after Sam Howell who looked really good yesterday.

I'd argue the Cowboy's ability to evaluate and get the best out of QBs has been very good overall. Feels like we hold the Cowboys more responsible for Paxton Lynch than we do the Broncos who actually traded up for him.

Drafting QBs in general is a low percentage game, given that the Cowboys have been using scraps to find them is actually pretty amazing.

I don't know if you're old enough to remember the years between Aikman and Romo ;) but that was a far worse QB stretch than anything you're pitching now.

Is that really true though? After 2023 it seems it's very easy to move on from Dak....assuming they don't restructure his deal this offseason. Even this offseason if you have a trade partner the cap hit isn't too terrible. The problem is you have to find a Dak a trade he would actually agree to, and with his cap number how much value would he actually bring back. I don't think this happens, but I would never say it's impossible.

oh you ought to know enough by now Im not tied to dak. I just know football and realize that hes not the only issue nor is he the biggest. Hes here you might as well get used to it. Youre just an attention seeking whiny fan who loves to troll and unfortunately you seem to have a cult following of other whiny *****. Some are still salty romo fans. some are super bowl or bust fans

this just isnt that serious to me. I want a super bowl but I know as long as this buffon owner is here its unlikely unless alot of things go our way and quite frankly thats ok. We got 2 more weeks of football most likely its been a good season
It must be nice to get a pass because "you're not the only problem".

You just play the most important position and take the biggest chuck of the pie though, but because that guy making pennies compared to you isn't good either then you get a pass.

We have 3 more playoff wins with Romo and Dak than we did between Aikman and Romo.

Forgive me for not finding that very much better lol

I could give 2 ***** about his contract or zekes contract. We have several highly paid folks not performing up to their contract its a team game troll you should know that. Most expert trolls do. Having said that i dont care if they draft a QB at 24 in upcoming draft hell be stuck with the same problems this QB and the prior QB had.

The jones buffoons!

Other than Dak or Zeke, who? Who's making top of the heap money for their position and not producing?

Jerry Jones does not care and nobody can convince me otherwise.

In 1989 the Dallas Cowboys lead by Jimmy Johnson drafted Troy Aikman with the number one overall pick in the first round and won 3 Superbowls

Since that time the two best QB's we have had are a late 4th round pick and an undrafted free agent.

The most important position in Football and the only premium pick Jerry has made since then is a late 2nd round pick 21 years ago, that everyone considered a huge reach (Quincy Carter) and was out of the league in 3 years.

This front office has relied on luck while going cheap on the most important position in football.

If this does not show the front office inadequacy .......... nothing does.

Well, one thing is for sure. If Dak blows all his Jones' money getting a good nights sleep, he can be assured he has a rent free space in your head and vacation opportunities in a few others heads on this site...................

Jerry saw the Pats get Brady with a 6th round pick and then anytime someone overachieved (Romo and Dak) Jerry thought he had the next Brady.

We need to take the position serious and stop playing around.

did you watch our oline whats Tyron? Zack seem to hold his own but he isnt what he once was either. Dlaw is overpaid. Gallup overpaid! I dont care about any of them in terms of salary but lets not act like it falls on 1 person unless you want to name our owner.

and if were being real none of them are making top heap money any longer. Dak is what 10th highest paid QB zeke i think is 4th

He had a bad game. All QB’s do from time to time. He’s not going anywhere so you’ll be in purgatory and that’s a beautiful thing. Hate on bro.
