56 yard fg in Seattle.
Punt from the Giants 40 with a yard to go for a first down
49 yard fg to seal the game. If they miss Giants have great field position.
Garrett was 3 for 3.
Just remember that the next time you say he made a mistake. Funny how those tough but correct calls always get forgotten.
I would not have gone for the long seattle FG. But it worked. Either way I would not have said that was a mistake no matter how it worked out, its a gamble. I dont think I would have done it.
Punt from the Giants 40 when up by 7 and the giants were playing pretty well against the run on that drive and i think on the previous one too. Yes I was glad to see that - I thought the safe play was good there - dont want to give them good field position and let them tie the game and get momentum there in the 4th quarter.
The 49 yard FG at the end is also a decision i agreed with. Its in Baileys range and he is playing with great consistency. Even if he misses, time is short and they still need a TD - best they can do is tie.
So the last 2 choices i think you could say Garrett played the odds well. The FG in seattle was a risky gamble that went against the odds but worked. Im more for taking risks in situations like that because on the road against a team like seattle your going to probably need some risks to win. Where as at Home against the Giants is a game that you should win.
But unlike a lot of people I dont always look at risks or gambles at coaching errors.
The types of things that i look at as errors are for example a week ago in the Miami vs GB game. GB is at about midfield maybe a little past it with 4th and 10 and no timeouts with the offense struggling and they have to run a play quick.
Miami calls a TO - gives GB a chance to go to sideline and draw up a play plus stops the clock. They convert the 4th down and eventually end up with the ball inside the 5 with 6 seconds left, then score. Those 6 seconds are not available unless Miami calls the TO - also the game had a feel of desperation and i didnt thing GB was going to convert that 4th - but the TO gave them a chance to regain their composure. Though that was a huge mistake.
