1. I am going to start with Jackie Smith dropping the sure touchdown from Staubach in Super Bowl XIII.

2. I was going to say Romo bobble, but I remember Novacek getting stopped inside the 1 yard line as time expired against Cleveland in 1994 that made me go %%$#^%^&%& nuts.

1. The Catch

2. Any one of those quick turnovers in the 1994 NFC championship game versus the 49ers.

The acrobatic catch Lynn Swann made over Gene Washington in the Super Bowl.

+1 with a third going to Jackie Smith dropping the sure touchdown from Staubach in Super Bowl XIII.

1. Bart Starr's lunge in the Ice Bowl. Jerry Kramer false started.

2. Dave Manders would be correctly credited with recovering a fumble in Super Bowl V. The refs said Baltimore recovered it. They didn't.

1. The Jackie Smith drop

2. The Catch - it basically ended our dominant run in the NFC......and it started the Niners Dynasty

These are two of the most played highlights in NFL history. It sucks that both of them are negative for the Cowboys. It would be so sweet if both of these plays were positive highlights for the Cowboys.

1. In the 1966 championship game Meredith bad pass to Pettis Norman near the goal line. If Meredith pass is on target Norman scores and the game would have been tied. Then gone into overtime, which I believe we would have won.

2. Super Bowl V, the tipped pass from Johnny Unitas to John Mackey that resulted in a 75 yard TD pass.

All of these are great.

Couple more.

1. Irvin's catch (and career-ending injury) vs Philly in 99. I wish he would've dropped it....or gone down differently. I hated to see him carted off like that.We were 3-0 going into that game...we looked pretty good. I'm not saying we would've won the SB that year.....but I think Aikman's career would've lasted a bit longer. And, we wouldn't have been forced into the Galloway deal.

2. The non-PI call in the 94 Championship game coupled with one of the early turnovers.

1. Jackie Smith drop. That *)^&$(%!@#$%)***POS
2. The fingernail tackle made by the 49ers on a Cowboys pass after "The Catch". Danny White would have won a championship and have an entirely different reputation today. "The Catch" wouldn't haven't gone down in history as anything more than a good play in the course of a loss.

If I got to add a 3rd, it would be to reverse all of the bad calls and non calls the steelers enjoyed against the Cowboys in all of their Super Bowls.

I thought of this one too.

My second could be any play from last years playoff loss to the Giants. Maybe the most underrated play is the one where Romo missed Owens crossing over the middle on that third down play that lead to a field goal on the opening drive in the 3rd quarter. Had he connected he would have scored, it would have changed the whole dynamics of the game.

The 1981 sf tackle on Drew Pearson after the sf tight end catch.
Number 88 goes the distance, win, win the Super Bowl against the Bengals.

The 1994 non-call against deon sanders for sf. Proper call, first down, touchdown, sf quarterback fumbles again (the defense had gained great momentom and sf quarterback was falling apart), touchdown, 42 to 38 win, beat San Diego in the Super Bowl.

I guess my hate for the frisco team trumps the steelers. The steelers earned all of their wins against some really good teams of the AFC in the 70's.

The frisco team in the 80's played in the NFC West against weak teams (Rams, Falcons, Saints none won titles of any kind) and racked up wins which lead to home field advantage in alot of their playoff games in the mud pit. What an advantage.

Dallas has always played against NFC East teams that have won Super Bowls (Washington 3, Giants 3, Eagles played in 2). Earned everything we got...

I think we'll win number 6 this year and gain the lead in titles can I hear an amen?

One other thought...

What if the 90's Cowboys did not have to deal with free agency like the 70's steelers and 80's sf teams? We keep all of the '92 Cowboys on the roster for 7 or 8 years and my opinion is we win at least 5 Super Bowls...'92, '93, '94, '95 maybe '97...

1) How about we run a draw to Dorsett? After the catch, we get the ball and White hits Pearson on a 30 yard play to the 49ers 45 yard line. We had one timeout 35 seconds and the leagues best kicker. Instead of running the pass play White fumbles on, Landry crosses up the 49ers with a draw to Dorsett.
That drive and the game ends on a Septein 45 yard FG attempt. Win or lose, I could've lived with that ending better.

2) Smith was close choice for SB 13, but I prefer to stick with the theme of righting injustices our Cowboys have endured. Smith's drop wasn't an injustice, but Barnes PI call was. That started a whole negative sequence for us over just a few minutes were the luck meter was out of wack.
After the PI call you get waters running into the ref and allowing Harris to run in a 12 yard TD on 3rd down from the 12. That's a give up call to preserve the FG attempt, but they luck into 7. Then their kicker slips and inadvertantly squibs the ball to Randy White who fumbles because of the cast. 2 plays later, 18 point lead.
In my heart I know we win that game if they get the Barnes call right.

3) I'll go with a bonus one here. Irvin's no call against Deon at the 5 yard line. We all know it was PI. And we all know we would have taken it in for 7. They couldn't stop us at that point.
Here's what kills me about this play. The 49ers got out quick with the 3 to's. They never faced pressure. In particular, Mr Choke Young. He had a 2 to 3 score lead the whole game.
This would've cut the lead to 3 with 3 plus min left. For the first time in that game Young would have been under pressure to produce a couple of first downs. NO WAY HE DOES IT! IT WOULD HAVE BEEN 3 AND OUT.
Aikman would have had the ball back down 3 with plenty of time.

1. Drew Pearson being tackled by the collar on the play that would have put Dallas into SB XVI. I know in my heart that Dallas would have beaten the Bengals in Pontiac. As was said earlier, Danny would not be thought of as he is today.

2a. I know everyone says Jackie's drop in XIII, but I would have loved to see Percy Howard catch Roger's next to last pass for a TD that would have won the game for Dallas in SB X. The ball hit him on top of his helmet and Roger's next pass was picked off by Edwards to secure the win for Pittsburgh. How sweet it would have been for Landry to win a title with that group of "kids".

2b. Super Bowl V. Mackey's 75 yrd TD still frosts me. I don't care what the refs said, I still don't believe Renfro touched that ball. Of course, Baltimore's fantom fumble recovery of Thomas' fumble did not help either. I also wish Dan Reeves was just a couple inches taller. That way he catches Morton's pass instead of Mike Curtis' pick that gave the Colts the winning field goal opprotunity.

To thnk how close the Cowboys came to owing 8 Lombardis instead of 5 is amazing :starspin

The Catch clearly is #1. After that its a pickem between the shirtsleeve tackle on Pearson right after, jackies drop, and the PI non call on Irvin.
