:hammer: You nailed this one. Petitti's progress has allowed Parcells to experiment with the other guys, while giving Rob some experience at left tackle. Since left tackle is the most important side, a backup for Flo has to be found, and McQ isn't ready for that. My guess is Columbo is #3, Fabini is #4, and McQ goes on injured reserved.

pretty doubtful that Petitti starts at RT IMO, especially since it appears he isnt going to play an snaps at RT again this weekend..if they were going to start him there and thought he was the best for the position, they wouldnt be wasting their time with playing other guys there and playing Petitti at 3rd string LT

I agree. Parcells says Petitti is still in the mix at RT, but I don't think so. If he was, Parcells would be playing Petitti at RT now, because the season is pretty close. Parcells has probably picked his guy and I'm guessing it is Columbo. At any rate, I think the person he is planning to start at RT will run with the first team this week and will start the SF game.

Parcells said after the New Orleans game was over and training camp had officially broke, he was going to quit moving people around and start focusing on getting the group ready for week 1. He said where you see them this week might not indicate who is what string (but I bet probably does), but where you see them this week likely where they will stay.

Pettiti is still at left tackle. Behind McQuinstan.

I also disagree with whoever said Fabini was terrible in the Saints game. As does Vela, Grizz and anyone else who has broke down the tape.

Same here. But it is spelled Kosier, although I wouldnt be mad or dissapointed if AlJ plays some C. Fabini gone.

AlJ, Pettiti, Proctor and McQ/FA or someone we trade for IMO.

Position...Starter.............Backup

LT......Flozell Adams.........Jason Fabini......Rob Petitti.....McQ
LG......Kyle Kosier............Procter
C........Gurode.................Johnson
RG......Marco Rivera.........(?)
RT......Marc Colombo........Jason Fabini.....Rob Petitti

I would be happy if either Colombo or Fabini got the start (probably more happy if Colombo started, since he's younger). Last week, our RT and LT play was pretty good, but Kyle Kosier really, really scares me.

Going out on a limb:

Flo
Kosier
Big Al (We play mostly 4-3 teams...going off of comments, and a hunch)
Rivera
Columbo (This is a crap shoot here...I have a 33% chance:D )

I give Columbo the edge right now at RT. If he starts Saturday as Roshi said it's an indicator he's the lead horse. He needs to have a clean first half though to nail the position down.

Pat McQuistan has a high chance of making this team- maybe 90%. If he doesn't throw up on himself against SF he's a lock.

Which leaves...Petitti and Fabini. We could opt to keep both. The final roster would be a lot easier with a few more slots. But if we only go with 4 tackles this one is a very close call. I'm not sure it's been decided. Petitti needs to show he's one of those "can't stop progress" guys. I'm not sure he's done that yet and time is growing very short. On the other hand NO was the 1st time we got the impression Fabini had a pulse. But IMO he showed just that. At this moment I give Fabini a small edge over Petitti for what could be the final OL roster spot. But IMO that could easily change based on how they both look Saturday.

i think fabini is an old guy and coming off an injury I suspect he is never gonna put out 100 percent unless its game day. I am pretty much fine with too if he plays like he did in the NO game

RT Colombo

I still think somehow, Gurode will blow his starting gig. I really hope it's not true, but given the history I'm not sold just yet.

Yeah, you did blow it on POeterman- but you were about the only one that thought that Gurode would win the center battle- and that Columbo would shine. So in the end you got it a lot more right then anyone else did.
I think Petitti right now is the swing tackle and its Fabini that has to show something to stick. I think BP wants to keep the young guys but he HAS to have someone that he can count on to play LT if Flo goes down again- and that pretty much means either Petitti or Fabini- no way does he want a rook protecting Bledsoes blind side.

I saw Pat McQuistan in the NO game. This guy needs some offseason time with the strength coach. He looks like a TE.

I needs to...uhhh...actually ATTEMPT to make his block rather than watching the guy walk by him.
