What a waste of talent in the 3/4

we are wasting a very talented Defense. I believe we could have one of the best D's ever if we ran a 4/3.

Watching Raiders run like that is a joke. Their RB sucks and we couldnt stop him.

Put Freg and Glover beside each other and let them kick butt.


Now it seems like when we send a LB its always Ware anyways. I never see us blitz the otherside.

I want the 4/3 back.

I have to agree. We have the best rotation of the front 4/7 that we've had since the super years and we insist on leaving one of them off the field. It doesnt make sense to me: Spears Fergy laRoi and Canty up front with Ware dat and Burnett/James in the middle. Tell me that doesnt just make you tingle thinking about it! )

We do use a 4 man rush on nickle and it sucks as far as a passrush goes because its so passive & predictable...

Now if we had a Jim Johnson or a real NFL DC, then yes...

I watched Lamont Jordan and Oakland's O-Line having their way with the Patriot defense in the first half. This is when the Patriots were playing their 3-4 base D. Along comes halftime and the PROPER adjustments made by Belichick. NE plays the 4-3 in the second half of the game and Jordan is contained. Result? Patriots win. I made a mental note to see if Dallas would do the same thing if the Raiders had success against our 3-4. Lo and behold Jordan is running roughshod over our defense in the first half. I'm thinking "Parcells will definitely make the adjustment at the half, just like Belichick did and put Ferguson and Glover side by side to clog the middle". HOW WRONG I WAS!! Determined to stick with the 3-4, we allowed him to continue racking up yards!!!

I like what the 3-4 will bring to the table when we get better at it. I do agree 100% that we are only pressuring with Ware, that is what will make the 3-4 ineffective when it become predicatble...lol...I've been saying that about Payton...anywho, I think Spears, Coleman, and Canty have done well thus far. I also think we will eventually move Burnett to he ILB next to Dat..he can be a playmaker I hope. I think Fujita will begin to show some pressure from the other side soon.

BUT...with all that said....with the dynamics of our front 4 we should be able to go into the 4-3 if e need to. Sometimes we can sure up the front line by doing that...we need to do both....Zimmy wuss be flexible and use your talent!

A lot of this has to do with the fact that neither Ferg nor Glover is commanding a double team and often getting handled by the center. Say what ya want about Glover's fantastic play, but it still looks like to me he's getting blown off the ball more often than not.

I vote we go to an over/under 4-3.

LB: Singleton, Nguyen, Burnett : with Shanle, Fujita, and Ware rotating. Where James you ask? Sitting his azz on the bench where it belongs.

Ware still plays most of the game but he alternates so the offense never knows where he is.

Actually, we did switch to mostly 4-3 in the second half esp in 4th quarter. It's the offense that really let us down this time.

I'm not stressing the defense, it played okay. If we can get McBriar to kick more consistently, and avoid stupid penalties, we'll do fine. We stuffed Jordan a handful of times. I wish we would run a 4-3, but that's just 'cause I'm a traditionalist. However, whatever we did shut down the pass, so i'm happy with that. If we had just not missed key chances to take 7 instead of 3 we would be sitting fat and happy right now.

I agree that our defense would be better in the 4-3 because of our DL...however, our LBs would still stink...no form of defense is going to be dominant until we bring in some pro-bowl type LBs who are studs....I love DAT but we have no studs at LB.
