What a Win or Loss Tells Us

A loss today, even with injuries, would tell us a great deal. But it would tell us less about a Ro-less defense than it would tell us about Tony Romo and the offense. I'm very worried about Romo....period.

Playoff teams don't lose to the Rams. This is also the easiest game of the year for us.

If we lose to the freaking Rams, we will be a 5 or 6 win team max this year

This team can win against the Rams and still be a 5 game winner at season's end.

All a win would tell me is we beat two teams with no QB.

I won't believe in this team any more at 2-1 than I did at 0-0. They're not a contender.

THIS.

Awhile back a member here posted some league stats showing how many instances clubs played consecutive road games vs how many times they won the 2nd of the 2 games. If my memory is correct the numbers were pretty astonishing. That 2nd game is brutal.

This is why I'll be happy even if we win an ugly nail biter today.

I was only able to find data when that second game was a division game, but .254 was the 7 year average for victory in that second road game in those cases.

A win:

We are at the very least on 8-8sville train again - able to beat the lesser teams. And with hope of growing beyond that with a win or two against the winning teams. Gone will be the dire 3-13 and first-pick-of-the-draft predictions spouted so often here and elsewhere. Two straight wins on the road is no small feat in the NFL regardless of opponent. This teams toughness will be declared and optimism will abound.

A loss:

Doesn't mean the end of the season by any means but certainly lays the track for a rough road ahead as the schedule doesn't get any easier. It puts us (at least temporarily) in the lower echelon of the league.

I can't wait for this game and what it will tell us.

If the probability of the Cowboys making the playoffs before this game is 30%, then a win will bump it to 31% and a loss will move it down to 29%.

This has been said many times before here, but we don't lose to poor teams.. In 28 losses under Garrett, only 3 have had a losing record. (All 3 were 7-9)

I stand corrected. Perhaps I still have lingering memories of Campo, Gailey, and/or Phillips eras.

You may want to share that info with the Colt and Saints.

How do you guys feel about this QB you're playing? I don't know anything about him... Is there a sense that he could develop into a player, or is he just "there"?

well when your third stringer starts the second half of the first game things aren't going to plan.
the kid has a good grasp of the playbook from being on the practice squad last year but don't know how he holds up after teams have film on him. I do like his pocket awareness and toughness he is a "gamer".

Kinda sounds like our third stringer as well. Flashes of good pocket awareness, but undrafted and little experience. Though I suppose this applies to 90% of third string QBs in the league.

In past years Dallas has been known to sometimes make backup QBs look like Joe Montana, but I don't get that feeling from them anymore. But we'll see. Best of luck buddy and thanks for stopping by and showing some class.

That's one of the angles I rely on when picking games. It is indeed tough to go back to back on the road. It's why I had the Commanders steamrolling the Jaguars last week. They had a big effort in Philly and going back on the road in D.C. They were going to get smoked.

It's probably the best reason to pick the Rams today. Still, I think the Cowboys win this game.

You cant wait for this game to find out what the game will tell us about this team... Right after you got done telling us the game wont tell us anything

If we lose to the rams, it tells us a ton.. That this team is awful

I don't think the Rams can beat the Cowboys. I do however believe the Cowbiys can loose to the Rams.

based on last year I would agree, however these type of games will help a young Ram roster develop. We almost have the same record the last couple years. The Rams do have the youngest roster the last three years so I think the arrow is pointing up.
