What about adding Suh

Why? We all know David Irving could be the most destructive DT in the game if his heart and mind were in it. If Irving shows remorse and the willingness to play seriously, why wouldn't you want to take that chance? We've got nothing to lose at this point.

I’m not sure why the impression is Irving comes back here. We don’t hold his rights

Some fans want the "All Name Defense" and hope the players will be what they used to be in their prime. Really hope that is not the direction we are going in.

He had 2 td's
I hope you're bringing that up to be funny and not because you think it's a relevant stat to consider.

Defensive touchdowns aren't really repeatable stats you should be taking into account when signing a defensive guy. Suh scored a TD in his rookie year too. And then didn't do it again until last year, after 8 straight years of zero scores.

Like, Greg Ellis scored two defensive touchdowns for us in 1999. I'm pretty sure they were in back-to-back weeks, and one of them was about a 99-yarder and the other wasn't far off from that. About as explosive and game-changing and play-making as it gets. And then he never scored a TD again for the remaining ten years of his career.

Guys, Suh played for 9.2 mil last year. We do not have the cap to be spending that kind of money on a DT. That could buy us two effective rotational DTs and really, that's what we need. We don't need a name guy. We need McCoy, Woods and two other DTs to be able to come in and give good productive minutes. Hill needs to get his stuff together and decide if he wants to play football or not and we're done.

I don't think Suh is getting 9.2 mil probably 6 mil

I guess we will see but still in all, 6 is too much. We need good productive rotational guys. We don't need players who only want to play hard if we make the playoffs. That's who Suh is now IMO. He's not that dominating DT that made everybody cry anymore.

Actually it was a rhetorical question but thanks for the thesis. :)
I think it was 41 tackles and 2.5 sacks.
I think the concept sounds good to me.

McCoy can not carry the interior line himself. Woods is Ok but we need more.

Thesis?

Haha..

I learn here in the Forum to flesh out an answer or others will shoot holes in it like an old Barbasol shave cream sign on the side of the road.

He still quit on his team. We may have sympathy for his situation, but that doesn't remove what he did.
I may be an alcoholic and waste my money on booze as opposed to paying the light, gas and water bills and providing food for my family, resulting in my wife and children starving and being evicted from our home. I may need medical, psychiatric and psychological help and intervention because I've arrived at a point where I can't help myself. Still, I let my family down.

I think that's the proper perspective because it acknowledges issues beyond one's control but holds him/her accountable at the same time.
David Irving did something in his life that made him turn to drugs, in particular, smoking pot. At that point, he had the ability to choose or not choose. He chose to smoke pot. Whatever occurred beyond that point may have sent his life spiraling out of control to a point where he is no longer in control of his life.
But if he ever wishes to get help or acknowledge the cost of what his addiction now has wrought, he has to take personal responsibility for it.
That's how he or anyone else in a similar situation is EVER going to change.
You don't think he has been taking responsibility for his actions? There is a reason why he wants back into the NFL. If you believe Irving is the only athlete to spark up, you'd be amazed to find out the truth. I bet more than half of all players throughout the league spark up, hence why the league suddenly decided to alleviate any suspensions for smoking marijuana.

Does it matter? Why wouldn't you want him back? Have you seen what we currently have at DT on the Cowboys roster?

of course it matters lol. I’d love to have him back, people talk like it’s a foregone conclusion he’d come here though and I think he’d have a fair amount of interest league wide. Just different from when we had his rights

If I were going to go out and get a DL right now, I'd probably go after Derek Wolfe way before I'd go after Suh. JMO

Too much of a me player! When he was first drafted the dude was all world. With that said, as his career has progressed he has REGRESSED. PASS

He is head and shoulders better than whomever else we have left at DT. For the right price, it would be great.

Too fat, too old, and too stupid,.............Jerry might have interest.
