What about Bell?

After that TNF drubbing the Steelers gave the Panthers, do you think Bell still has the leverage in his holdout situation?

I've been seeing reports that he is supposed to report to the team this week. Do they insert him back into the line-up day one, or rotate him with Conner? The offense looks like it's firing on all cylinders, with or without the 'best' back in the NFL.

IMO they should start Connor and rotate Bell in. I get his position, but at the same time he let his team down.

I'm thinking he'll be playing for another team next season. It will be interesting to see what kind of contract another team gives a 27 year old RB that thought 70+ Mil wasn't enough.

Think for Bell he could take a lower overall if it meant the same or more guaranteed money that Gurley got.

Absolutely, he got 45M guaranteed. But Gurley is 24, Bell will be 27 when he signs his contract. Some team going to give him 4 years 45M guaranteed? I think the best Bell can hope for is around 20M guaranteed at signing.

Yea, not to mention he lost 9+ million this year.
Not sure which team will do it, but I know some team will hit FA with money to burn and probably cave in to signing him to what he wants.

It's possible. The Browns and Colts have a ton of cap space they can carry over to next season if they want to. To a lesser extent the 49ers as well. This could all be a moot point if Bell gets injured.

I would hope teams that might want to sign him will look at Conner's production and think "hmm, maybe Bell isn't that great, it's the line and the scheme that let him get all those yards and tds"....

Yeah, definitely. After how this entire thing has went down I doubt either party is interested in continuing.

I should’ve asked, does the Steelers offense scoring like it did last night without him hurt his position when it comes to negotiating with other teams? IE - perhaps it wasn’t his individual skill set that got him those stats.

That depends. His individual skillset may be seen as a luxury and not a necessity. But an up and coming team may need his skillset more than the Steelers. I'm sticking to my guns saying he will not get more than 20M guaranteed at signing. If I were him I would have taken the 70-75M contract with 10M guaranteed. He's set for life, why play games? If you perform you're making the 70+ million. If not, then you'll be cut somewhere along the line. But no, he wants a king's ransom.

He will never recover that 14m he lost this year

Dumbest move ever..... if you are afraid of getting hurt get an insurance policy.....it is 500k for 10m

Bell isn't playing this year.

After the clusterfudge this season, I just don't see any team caving. If we needed a RB, I'd rather draft one. I wouldn't want to pay him more than maybe 8 or 9 mil/season. Yes, I'm well aware that he may get more than that. Put him in DET or CLEV, and they instantly become a playoff team. However, is it worth it to the overall health of your team to sign a guy who may be a problem?

And then add in that Leveon has been in the league 6 years and has missed games in 5 of them. Possible health issues.

I don't think the Steelers want him back anymore. Connor is a crowd favorite and he is playing well. They just put up 52 on one of the best defenses in the league. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. If he wants to get paid, let him go. He's got great talent but he's a bit of a diva. I'm sure he'll generate alot of interest. Too many off-field issues to warrant a top dollar contract.
