What about Kyler Murray?

But a problem child who can run & make plays.

We aren't in a buyer's market. We will have to look in the damaged goods bin if we want to get a vet who might allow us to compete while the roster is pretty good.
Aren’t we already doing that with Lance? You can argue he’s “damaged goods” and a vet.

I would like to make Dak a June 1 designation and let Trey have a season. If he sucks then don’t resign him or do his 5th year option and draft a QB.

Or like you said bring in a damaged goods QB that will sign for cheap and have him compete with Lance in training camp. Bring in someone like Wentz/Mariota and let them have an open competition in TC after Dak is gone June 1.

Don't be too excited about that future. Lance flopped in the same offense where Purdy is flourishing.
Did he have enough of an opportunity to flop though? I don't know if there's a big enough sample size. Due to his injuries, he's still a bit of an unknown, which gives a little bit of hope...

Yeah. Dak ain't going anywhere for 2 years with his contract anchoring him here. The only option for change is to draft the best available qb and give him as much game time as you can. Rush and Lance are not either the short term or long term answer.
Dallas can save $34 million if they make Dak a post June 1 cut heading into 2024.

That will be great bringing in a qb who had an independent study clause and he only had to do that for 4 hours lol.

Might as well bring in Bishop Sycamore former HC since the story goes that he used playbooks from Madden.

Wait- we want to get rid of a low iq crap qb and replace him with a midget low iq crap qb?
Who else is potentially available that might allow you to salvage something with the roster as assembled?

Never said it was an ideal situation or risk free, but I only see two options. Try to find a vet who might have a chance (however small) of getting the most out of this team. Or, accept that you have to go young & it's going to be a few years of rebuilding so you might as well move players for draft picks while trying to develop Lance or acquire another young QB to develop.

Like I said, you would be hoping for an improved version. But man, imagining him kill people with his legs and buying time to make plays downfield is really intriguing since we have a lot of things going for us on the current roster.
His legs aren’t going to last in the NFL. It’s highly unlikely he plays near a full season ever and any injury likely ends the one thing he brings to the table.

Also, a QB that got paid and his team purportedly felt they had to put a work ethic clause in his contract is not a recipe for success. Many here rip D Law and Zeke for their effort after getting the bug bucks; Murray takes that to a whole new level.

Just say no, no, no, no to Murray.

What if Arizona decides it's time to move on from Kyler?

His mobility and ability to make plays makes him one of the few if not only QB's I can think of that might be attainable and who might actually mesh with our offensive strengths & weaknesses.

I know Kyler has apparently been less than dedicated ..... but sometimes a wake up call like getting traded can get a guy going.

I don't know about the financial ramifications but I can't imagine them to be too severe IF you truly can get a QB with experience and the skills to help your other players thrive.
I prefer quarterbacks who concentrate on the throwing game.

So the solution for a fan base tired of Dak is to go get a QB that is his equal on his best day? And also has a hefty price tag?

I don't think the Cowboys move on from Dak yet anyway. And if they do they would be wise to see what Trey Lance can do before breaking the bank for someone else.

Since you created the thread, at least provide somewhat of a course of action to dispense with the current QB with an exorbitant contract, so the Cowboys can acquire another QB with an equally exorbitant contract.

I don't know all the details of what it would take or to what extent the contracts could be mitigated but I do know other teams have gotten themselves out of similar situations.

Good Lord, NO!!!

Kyler was skipping rehab sessions for his torn ACL so he could stay home and play XBOX.

Dude is more concerned about playing Call of Duty than playing football...............I would rather watch Dak throw picks every game than trade for this loser.

our future you mean maybe 2024 or 2025 I mean they just don't throw contract money away like owners don't eat $60 million in dead cap so he's not getting cut this year next year still probably about 30 million he only is tradable if he accepts the trade.. So this talk is all premature and I do agree it would be lateral at best but I don't think kyler Murray being more expensive first of all the cards are not gonna eat that money and two he's not better no quarterback I think including Patrick mahomes would have won these two losses I'm serious and did anybody see the games no defense no run game offensive line bad I mean I don't know if you think that quarterbacks normally can play without a run game without a better offensive line without anybody getting open I mean you think we could just put anybody in there and they would just win because it's not named Prescott or Romo I mean is that what this place thinks no what's gonna happen is we're gonna turn into one of the worst teams in the NFL without a top ten quarterback but kyler Murray's not one of them and we can't afford to move on yet it may be 2025 before this quarterback of the future sees truly sees the field..
Dak sucks and is the main reason we lost both games. So far in this thread you have vomited a novel's worth of excuses. Must be exhausting being that wrong yet still trying to come up with new material.

I keep wondering where the Cooper Rush Fan Club has gone?
I think he'd be better in this system than Dak is. His anticipation, ability to hit receivers in stride and ability to read a defense and know where he's going with the ball is better than Dak. Dak has a stronger arm, that's it, and not by much.

What about drafting a real freaking quarterback?
For the first time in 35 years.
