What about Peter Carroll?

I know he has some NFL experience in which he wasn't too successful and I know it would be damn near impossible to yank him from SC. However, if it did happen what would be your thoughts?

I think he deserves another chance... but I don't think he wants it. He owns LA.

It's been STRONGLY rumoured Pete will not return to the NFL unless he gets considerable "control". I don't know exactly how much (my guess would be short of formal GM duties and status, but it has to include at least a strong voice in personnel acquisition and FO direction).

Being part of that three-headed post-Parcells, pre-Belichick troika of Kraft, Pete and Booby Grier soured Carroll, and understandably so.

pete wouldn't be available but what about his Defensive Coordinator? He's built some stellar d's there for the last 5 years. What about giving him a chance?

Dave Campo would be successful with the torrent of talent that flows into the USC prgm each yr. This, way more than anything, explains his record with the Trojans.

Deion for head coach!!! /s

I thought Carroll was the one in charge of the USC defense?

I have always thought Pete got a bum deal w/the jets. In my opinion he was doing a very decent job.

He can pay players and their families legally in the NFL. I think he should give it a shot.

He was axed after one 6-10 season with the Jets. So Mr Hess could hire the immortal Rich Kotite.

It took Parcells to straighten that mess out, but you are right, Pete got a bum deal in NY. A one year bum deal.

In NE, however, he took over a well-disciplined handpicked Parcells team that was flush off a Super Bowl, and in three years ran it into the ground with laissez faire laidbackism. Just lost his team, flat out.

Nice guy, tho, and I'm sure he learned a LOT in that NFL experience.

I think Pete Carroll is a perfect College Coach. I don't think he's a Pro Coach. Pete Carroll has done an extrodinary job rebuilding the SC program but in truth, that team does what they do because of the talent that exists within the program. Offensively, he does nothing different or even new. Defensively, he does nothing different or new. Basically, if he comes to the NFL, he's just another guy IMO. Without that talent, your not going to generate the same kind of success in the Pros. JMO of course.

What exactly did he do to lose the Patriots?
