What about Peter Carroll?

What exactly did he do to lose the Patriots?

It's more what he didn't do.

To enforce discipline.

The inmates were running the asylum. In camp in '99, Pete tried to reverse his easy going ways, but it was too late. One day he told all the players everybody had to practice, NO EXCUSES. But a player had a hangnail or something and Pete (per usual)_ let him off the hook. However, because Carroll so badly needed to re-establish control, he couldn't be seen as going back on his ultimatum. so he took a bottle of water and threw it over the player's (with the player's compliance of course) to make it look like the guy had practiced and was soaked in sweat. It was witnessed, and the press went haywire over it.

That's how farcicial it had gotten, with a team said to hold it's team meeting at the Foxy lady strip club in Providence.

Things only got worse thru 99, culminating in a Thanksgiving Eve benefit held by Willie McGinest that ended in a fight between Milloy and Brisby, and Vincent swinging pool cue at Lawyer's head. I won't even bother mentioning what nonsense TG was up to. :)

Everything that happened on or off the field was ballyhooed by the media as evidence of a sinking ship, and unfortunately, it was.

That's why Kraft 'stole' Belichick from NY, and had to give up draft picks to get him..they needed better coaching, but discipline even more badly.

In that last year, it was a zoo.

I just saw a Parcells Gatorade commercial, it shocked me.

Anyhow back to Carrol, I think peopl have crossed fingers that he ca nbe like Bellicheck and fail his first try and be wonderful the second go around.

Those are tightly crossed fingers.

Take it for what its worth.

I have heard that the Cardinals will possibly offer Carroll the head coaching job with GM responsibilities as well.

Good for Pete.

And there are probably fewer strip clubs in the desert.

No no NO!! :)

Read my prior post.

Pete once had a problem keeping his Pats players out of them.

Carroll himself is a straight arrow, and a living doll.

Thanks for making me laugh today.

I'm starting to think he really is sincere about coaching, not just a gag...it would be fun to follow.

Oh no, football players going to a strip club, the end of the world is near.

I know he has some NFL experience in which he wasn't too successful and I know it would be damn near impossible to yank him from SC. However, if it did happen what would be your thoughts?

Hell to the no!

Well, when they're missing meetings and the press is taking pics of their cars there, and the cops are picking them off in DUIs on the way home from them, they can become somewhat problematic.

And when they're sleeping in their cars by the roadside with enough...never mind.

Pete won't let that happen again. Nuff said.

I'm the biggest USC fan I know, and Pete Carroll is one of the more creative defensive coaches anywhere in any league...his guys can always run, tackle, blitz, cover, and seldom get penalties.

However, I'll stand by the idea that we need to land a Head Coach who's very creative on offense.

Pete Carroll turned that USC program around from 3 losing seasons before he got there and everyone saying it was a poor program and a mistake for him to go there to a team that is a perennial championship contender, one of the fastest defenses you've ever seen with 18 underclassmen starters.

Now, if he could pry Norm Chow out of Tennesee to bring with him, I'd go for it...I just don't want any college coach unless he knows the NFL. Once again, I'm not impressed with Bob Stoops or his team's current performance tonight.

Pete Carroll layed the foundation for Bill Belechik in New England and don't get near the amount of credit he should. Drafted a lot of key players that were around during the dynasty run.

Carroll was also in camp Bledsoe...could be interesting to see what he does with Romo if he became coach....might send the youngster packing knowing what he has in the wily vet.

Munchis.....Out!!!!
