I think no WR will necessarily stand out and Cowboys will get desperate and do something foolish like overpay a WR from the cut pile OR go overboard to trade for a veteran WR

Skipper signed with Detroit last season and was starting at one point. Theaker is not on the roster. Unless you bold moves are they are returning.

It actually kind of does. Austin is an unrefined WR so he most definitely could not do the things Beasley does in the slot. If Austin could do everything Beasley did but better, then I suspect a guy like McVay would have gotten a lot more out of him than they did and the Rams wouldnt' have been so quick to **** can him and send him somewhere else.

No, not everything he does is great. But doesn't it strike you as a bit odd on a team that largely improved across the board offensively and was one of the better offenses in the league, Austin was largely a non-factor and the Rams were ready to send him packing by season's end?

His ceiling is nothing more than a specialty player, maybe a better Lucky Whitehead. He'll probably catch a few bombs, maybe a few big runs off bubble screens or jet sweeps and that's it. And frankly, that's all I need from him or expect from him.

But people expecting him to become this really, really good WR (that might be able to challenge Beasley, for example) are probably getting way ahead of themselves. It's also a bit unfair to the WR coach to expect that he's going to turn this guy into some playmaker.

Oh, I am not expecting him to be a great Wr, or be a #1 or even a #2. But I do expect him to contribute for the role they define foe him. Just don't over do it. these 12 to 20 touches a game Stephen touts, just too many unless he is counting punt and kick returns.

I'd love for him to finally live up to the first round hype here. I'd love for this staff to figure out a way to make something click with him.

But in reality, after 5 seasons, the adage, he is what he is, probably applies here.

If I can get kick returns, maybe 30-35 catches (screens, a few bombs) from him and 30-40 runs, I'll take it and call it a big win. This idea that he is a better version of Beasley or he can supplant Beasley is probably wishful thinking at this point.

Even Blogging the Boys have been trying to slow the Austin hype train. And if BTB is doing that, LOL.........

And why?

I will start with..if Austin can do several thing, as he will be the Dunbar role, we will refer to as the Austin role, return punts and kicks. But also, if he can do Beasley's job, and they like Scarbrough enough. Is Beasley's job in jeopardy?

I actually think this can be a possibility and may want this to happen. I am not sold on Bo yet, but could get on board with this.
