What Are The Chances That Extension Talks With Dak Go Bad?

We all know that Jerry and Co will attempt to double down on their mistake and try and extend Dak to help the cap hit.

What are the chances that Dak's agent and or Dak have a higher asking price than our FO believes he is worth? Is there a chance that they just take it on the chin and ride the current deal out and move on if that's the case?

I'm not on the up and up when it comes to extensions, but is it set in stone that once talk starts Dak will be extended or could things go bad?

Then they don't do it and play the yr out, and subtract 24 mil from 50 and that's Dallas new cap space. It's not really hard to put peices together.

Sadly Jerry & Co. have shown their ineptness when it comes to contracts and Dak and his agents will yet again fleece Jerry leaving us fans heading into 30 years without a Super Bowl.

Zero chance, if your operating under the guide that the FO doesnt want Dak thats the first mistake.. Even with the no trade clause if this FO decided they were moving on it would do Dak no good to lock everything up, they could trade him I'm pretty sure they have made it clear they dont want to. Dak will restructure hopefully the FO takes as much hit as it can to keep some choices sooner rather than later.... but it wouldnt shock me if they do a 10 year restructure because nothing they say says they dont want him.

How about if he wants 50m a year?
Dak held this front office's feet to the fire last contract to extract every dime from Jerry that he could get.
Who's to say he wont do it again?

If I’m Dak after the way I’ve been playing, I’d love to be in discussions for an extension
Yeah, at this point I think he'll take whatever they offer with his playoff losses and inconsistent play. I just really hope Dallas can get the no trade clause out of the contract in a restructure even if they need to pay a bit more. I'm sure they could get the Jets or Texans or someone to bite in 2024-2025 or so.

The Joneses have extensive poor history as negotiators, what makes anyone think this is going to go good?

When they were negoitating that last contract, how many times did Booger comment about needing the space to sign other players? Did Prescott or his agent care? Prescott even made the ignorant statement that everyone can get paid. Of course, they could not.

Remember Flacco making that statement he didn't want his contract causing them to lose players? Well, it did at 20M.

Think any QB's give a damn about the rest of the team unless it's a bud? They are in this for the money and themselves as are all of the players.

If I were the Cowboys I would not make any hasty Dak decisions until I see what the 2023 year looks like under McCarthy's influence/accountability with the offense. The exception being, Dak is willing to extend his contract for a Brady-like deal that enables the Cowboys to hire more fire power for the offense. If 2023 looks like the ceiling has been hit, it may be time to move on from Dak and build the offense around a QB TBD.

A 10 year restructure! Good grief. I thought we were nearly out of this nightmare.

The Jones already botched the chance to have Dak closer to 30 mil but they botched it.

They can restructure to help the cap but I have zero faith they could work out an actual extension that is a good deal.

Idk, the only team I could see remotely interested would be the jets.

I'm actually scared. Our front office is one of only a few that could legitimately make a bad contract even worse whilst trying to 'restructure' it for a better deal.

A smart front office is trying to restructure with a view of how quickly they can get out of this albatross of a contract.

I hope they don't restructure.. take the cap hit this season.. rebuild the line, WR corp and add some CBs.. and pick a QB early. Then ride Dak while the Rookie learns the playbook.. then take the cap hit on Dak next year and hopefully find a solution at QB.

It's simple. Draft a QB in first round. Keep Prescott for this season whilst we ease in the rookie. Dump Prescott end of next season ideally via trade or just cut him.

Time to put the wheels in motion in this draft that the front office is moving on.
