If the media sees that our main problem is our coaching, and the educated people here on the Zone see that coaching is a problem, What the hell are we missing that Jerry sees????

It's beyond me.

Our talent is vastly overrated, especially on the OL. Our WR's are also seriously overrated and we can thank God for Miles Austin stepping up or this team would seriously be screwed. Our talent level simply isn't as good as the fans and media think. I really do believe it is as simple as that (and mediocre coaching).

I think what we're missing this season are some breaks, plain and simple.

I agree. The talent on this team is VERY overrated. Our OL is old and not very smart. On past teams you had smart linemen (Mark Stepnoski and John Gesek come to mind) along with the maulers like Nate Newton and Eric Williams. We need smart linemen with great technique to go with the Leonard Davis's and Marc Columbo's.

We also need a #1 receiver (Roy Williams is not the answer). Miles Austin saved this receiving corp this year, but he's sort of a one trick pony. We really need a WR that scares defensive coordinators. That helps open up the other guys on this team. A Reggie Wayne type of receiver comes to mind.

We also need a couple more locker room leaders. Guys who do their jobs and bring leadership to the table. Brooking is a good start, but we could use more; maybe a guy or two like that on the offensive side of the ball. Maybe even bring in a FA or two from a recent superbowl team or from a winning team that has no idea and do not care about the December problems. Change the culture. That's why I was hoping (and it was a longshot) that Jerry would have made a run at Ray Lewis last season. He's a no nonsense leader and would not have any of that December loss stuff. Getting Ray may have even changed how Jerry handled TO and how TO behaved (IIRC Ray and TO are friends).

Then we need a coaching change. Whether that happens or not only time will tell. And who that coach is will be key. I really believe this team needs a hard nose coach (and I believed that when Parcells left). They respond better to a coach with more discipline and accountablility.

If you are gonna rely on "breaks" - you're in trouble.

Smaller, more athletic OL. Our big guys right now seem slow and kind of lethargic.

More speed at the linebacker position.

A play making safety who can diagnose plays quickly.

A shifty, speed burner at WR.

Better production from the kick return game.

A FG kicker if Folk can't regain his old form.

Do you realize Jimmy J. or Parcells would have fired Folk weeks ago? Why Wade (I mean Jerry) is hanging on to him is beyond me.

The Cowboys are missing the following (in no particular order):

- A younger OL that doesn't wear down over the season
- An OL that can power run block so they don't have to rely on draws and slow-developing counters on the goaline
- A DL that makes more plays (aside from Ratliff, and once in a while Bowen, these guys don't make big plays)
- A Safety that makes big plays

a) It's late in the season.

b) He was deadly accurate his first 2 years.

c) I'm sure the hip surgery had to play a role in this. Maybe he doesn't recover, but at this point, I doubt you can do much better this late in the season.

It's not a matter of "relying on breaks." That is, no one says "we're going to get 10 breaks in the game today, so let's only give a half-effort." Rather it's a matter of whose favor the breaks fall in. Any team with a great record has relied on breaks, to an extent, get to where they are. Our 13-3 team certainly did.

I remember Parcells saying something akin to, "no one wins the Super Bowl without an inordinate amount of breaks going their way." No better illustration of that than the 2007 Giants.

That's why people get their big paychecks. To find out what teams are missing and to implement those things. There job is calles Head Coach.

So don't listen to the media there only goal is to have readers who read their stories. Because that's how they earn their money. So don't read to much into it when someone comes up with simple solutions for what we are missing to be a chapionship caliber team.

Coaches wouldn't get so much money if it were so simple to figure it out whats missing. And in the end often it's a philosophy too. It's not always the same ratrional way to build a championship team. This is not mathmatics this is unpredicable real life.

Same is for the so called educated people here. What they are missing is insight. They are not the ones who participate in the teammeetings. They don't know about the real problems we have just because they lack participation. They may have football knowledge but with that alone you can't say what a teams specific problems are. It's too complex.

Now i don't even think JJ sees the real problem. You sound a little bit like JJ is like a god who knows everything and in the end will make the right decission. That's really not the case. I think JJ has a philosophy that is build on experience. On experience means here even JJs philosophy on how to handle certain situations may change over the years.

Right now (and in the last years) he had the philosophy not to cut a HC until it's not official that the main goal can't be achieved anymore. In our situation right now that yould mean we still can make the playoffs and still can win the SB. To me i think he is right with it just because you really can't judge an approach of coaching if you don't wait unti the end.

All JJ does right now is to support the situation and people as positiv as he can. And that's as great as we can get a owner to do. he will I think of course he will have his thoughts about the situation and how the season until now went. But the seaosn is not over so his thoughts may change if we for instance win the SB.

JJ always stresses exactly this point of view. Before he makes decissions he waits for the real outcome. After that he makes up his mind and makes his decissions. I like that attitude.

The majority of the O-line is big and slow but are expected to play a quick and nimble game plan therefore Romo has to scramble often just to keep the play alive. It goes down hill from there...

It is all about the breaks. Dallas is as good as any team in the NFL and has a legitimate shot at winning the Super Bowl.

Look at the Colts. They're undefeated but easily could have a worse record than Dallas. Last night was a perfect example. Garrad made a terrible throw right to a Colt DB to lose the game. The DB did make a nice play but there was no pressure on Garrad forcing it. It was just a break for the Colts but again, the Colts were able to capitalize on the error so it's not just dumb luck.

Look at Dallas' losses. Each game was realistically within one play, with the possible exception on Green Bay. A dropped pass here or there, a bad call, a missed tackle or one miscommunication between the QB and WR could have resulted in a 13-0 Dallas team.

Dallas needs to catch a few breaks and capitalize when they do instead of missing field goals. It's really that simple.
