I wonder if we hear after the season is over that he's struggled with some sort of injury. He was lights out in the first half of the season, but hasn't looked so great recently.

This guy's a bit of an enigma to me. He doesn't have much experience at the position and does flash ability but there are times where I think he's overwhelmed and might never get it.

Do you think he's a piece for the future or do we need two new safeties?

Plays better when they switch to man. Just seems like he doesnt have the ability to read the field as a single high in a zone.

Guy is a liability in coverage. Go watch the ole miss game. He got torched for 2 costly TD's that lead to them losing the game. He's not the center fielder FS we need to pair with wilcox imo.

He's athletically superior to Church and a better tackler. Church is the liability looking forward (has been too). Church is a fan favorite bc he is an UDFA player that compensated for a lack of draft success. Wouldn't start in a good secondary.

He's right where he belongs at FS. Church is an adequate SS largely on account of his football IQ, but doesn't have the speed to play FS. Wilcox has pretty much all of the physical traits you're looking for in a FS, but thus far hasn't shown the football IQ.

This year was still a big improvement over last one for Wilcox, the project seems to be coming together so give it another year and if he keeps improving significantly then you have at least an adequate FS.

He needs to improve his range. But he's gotten better from last year to this year. He just needs a bunch of reps to help him learn the nuances of playing S. But he will only get better. I'd like wilcox to play SS, and pair him with a FS that can cover sideline to sideline. JJ is good against the run, I just don't think he can develop into a center fielder type FS. He doesn't have the range or nose for the ball when it's in the air. I believe wilcox will develop into an above average strong safety, but we should play him alongside an ideal prototype FS; to help hide some of his deficiencies.

Wilcox over Church imo. JJ has better upside and is just as good against the run.

if we lose today, it's going to be bc of the safeties. i have a bad feeling about them vs. Arod.

We need a 1st rnd pick that's a safety eventually. I've been screaming for one for years now. If you look at the top defenses over the past few years you'll notice that they all have at least a 1st-2nd round safety starting. Some even have 2. Now us..................
