Going from Costa to Frederick is like replacing a pitcher with a DH at the plate.

I won't dispute the reach but he's an instant and huge improvement to the team.

I think we missed the more talented player in Floyd-- but he also came with character issues and some baggage.

Frederick is an upgrade at RG or C, and is a solid team/character guy. Besides-- the only way to fairly evaluate the trade will be to line up Frederick and whoever we draft at #12 in the 3rd round against either Reid or Floyd.

If we get a solid guy at that pick-- I think we win the trade. if we reach there, maybe not.

From what i've seen of Frederick I really hope this is the case.

He looks like a better player in 2011 @ guard than he does in 2012 @ center.

Heres the deal on that. Fredericks usual playing weight is around 330 pounds or so. Thats the weight he played guard at. At Wisconsin,...we pull our center a ton! Not that easy a thing to do. Frederick went out and lost 15 pounds in the off season in preparation to play center and pull. PLAYED VERY well at center, just seemed to me to be more dominant at guard at the higher weight. He's a born and bred Wisconsin boy,...believe me he can put that 15 pounds back on faster than you can say gimme a Miller and a basket of cheese curds~!

I am curious why you would ax that. do you think he is dumb or something and needs schooling. No sir. All he need is some nfl experience to be rich and famous like romo.

I was not completely happy with the trade value and was scratching my head on us not getting Floyd at 18 or Sly Williams a little later (could have been done and still had an extra pick).

However, I do think this team already got batter from what they did yesterday.
Romo gets way too much pressure straight up the middle--which blows up plays before they even get started.
A big, smart, and somewhat versatile center will help.

Just hoping they hit on all three picks today.

What makes you think that they had Sharrif Floyd in the top 5? Because Mike Mayock had him going #3 overall?

If you listen to the Press Conference it sure sounded to me like Monte Kiffen didn't view Floyd as an ideal fit for his style quick twitch 3 technique. Personally I was excited when I saw Floyd falling and I thought we would definitely draft him at #18. But, I trust Monte Kiffen's judgement over who will fit best in his defense than I do Mike Mayock. And I have no doubt if my mind that had Monte Kiffen told Jerry Jone he wanted Floyd that he would have been then pick at #18. But it does not appear that Kiffen felt that either Floyd or Sly Williams where ideal fits for his 3 technique.

Not saying anything about Kiffen or Marinelli. I think Jerry was listening to coaches not necessarily scouts.

The grade stuff was coming from Broadus and Fisher on twitter.

I will say that I'm somewhat comforted by the fact that Atlanta (43 needs interior guy), Cinncy (4-3, pure bpa team), Chicago (same scheme as us), Stl Louis (could use a 3 tech), NYG (could use a DT) passed on him too.
