What Bold Move Should Jerry Jones And The Cowboys Make?

The Dallas Cowboys have made it through the first four games of the NFL season, and at 3-1, are in better shape than most of us expected. But Marshall Faulk wants to remind us that you can never stand pat in the NFL. Here is this week's GMC Playbook question.

The Cowboys have already made some bold and decisive moves this season. A couple that spring to mind are signing Rolando McClain and going all in on the running game. So far, things are working out pretty well. But there is a lot of football to play yet, and you always want to be taking steps to make things better.

On the field, there really isn't a lot that needs to be changed at this point. Tony Romo looks to be returning to the top of his game. DeMarco Murray is simply in full beast mode. Dez Bryant is still doing Dez things, including helping pave the way for Murray. The defense, while still very much a work in progress, is at least showing signs that it can provide enough resistance to the other team to help the offense stay ahead on the scoreboard. And special teams seem to be holding up their end of the bargain quite well.

So what bold, even daring move could the team make? Well, at the coaching level, nothing comes immediately to mind. There are certainly no big, splashy personnel moves that come to mind, especially for a team that has a bit over $5 million in cap space. The plan in all three phases of the game seems pretty solid and not in need of anything major.

By process of elimination, that takes us to the owner and general manager, Jerry Jones. Here is a man who has never shied away from the bold and decisive move. And recently, there was word that he may be considering something that fits this concept almost perfectly.

For me, I feel really good right now and so my judgement is not going to be civilized. So thinking without my happy cap on, I say wait until we make the playoffs. From there, lock Garrett up.

It's been discussed before. I would wait a bit. Four games isn't enough to justify and extension. Let's see where we are at least by Thanksgiving, if not year end. It's not like other teams will be tearing down walls to hire Garrett.

Unless there is a pass rusher of good ability available, I wouldn't do anything.

Bring in Asante Samuel. Seriously, there are people actually clamoring for Samuel?

Trade for a pass rusher. We'll have to draft one at this point next year, and who knows if we can actually get the guy we'd want.

We will get to see what Lawrence brings to the table as soon as he returns. I agree with looking at pass rusher not too keen on big name FA, they tend to produce less than they get paid.

Trade for Ware. Next year's one and the second pick in 2016.

Get 'er done Jerr.

Only bold moves I want to see are no bold moves. 1 Get Murray, Dez and McClain signed. 2 do not go out and get high priced FA seldom works for us, look for the mid range FA and 3 focus on the draft. Seems anytime we try to make a big splash we end up just getting wet.

Exactly what I would be thinking right now. I would also add in sign ALL of our coaching staff thats not already signed like Callahan. I think he should be deserving of credit for coaching the oline.

True if they continue as they are. I would not do a contract player or coach right now. Go out and earn it, a little hot seat never killed anyone. Heck Coughlin won a SB one of the seasons he started out on the hot seat.

I think more than anything it is what the players really think and what they have to prove it to themselves. Heck they know last 3 years they have came up just short they have to be able to get over the mental hurdles that have kept them down and in my eyes it is more mental than anything else.

Heck I'm just a fan I with them all the way hell or high water, 1-15 or 15-1. As the lady said "You had me at hello" lol

Jerry shouldn't make any moves, we may end up with that flash he is looking for and trade away one of our top three picks. That doesn't mean in against picking up some defensive help; I'm just saying if it's him I hope someone locked up the liquor cabinet.

I would offer the Raiders a 6th for Woodson and play him at free safety.

He would have to play safety since he can no longer play corner and has been at the safety position for three years. A 6th for a 38 year old is still too much. Maybe a 7th.

Conditional 7th at that
