What can change logically

Nothing's going to change until Jerry does. He continues to treat the team like a mesmerized groupie. He meddles in when, how or where the team practices. Act as team doctor on and on...I try to like Jerry Jones. I really do. But I liked the Dallas Cowboys way before Jerry showed up. And I like them a lot better.

When Dak came back from injury I noticed when we blew out the falcons he ran one in for a TD and was really excited about it. Apparently JJ and the staff were not happy. A big part of Daks game is pulling it down and taking off. Or even having some designed runs. After the injury and his contract they seem to want him to be a pocket passer. He needs to set that up in a game. The QB draw to end the season was a good play call at the wrong time. It should have been ran earlier in the game. He needed to be taking off here and there to confuse the defenses. Once they have to account for it then it seems to help him in the pocket with someone staying around to spy him. He did it for years and it worked.. Needs to be a change back to that this coming season..

I agree, as I said during the season I want to see him pull the ball down and run if need be, just be smart about it, get down or get out of bounds but the ability to pull the ball and pick up a 1st down to move the chains is the difference between extending the drive or punting the ball away. Also around goal line I think it would help some of the struggles they run into in redzone offense. He needs to be smart about it but can't play scared either

You’ve kinda lost me now with specific X and O for situations in games . I’m making a broader analysis.
Used to be teams would stack the box and come after Dak. He and they learned to beat the blitz and they have changed. Now rushing 4 and covering. I hope they learn to beat that. If they could run the ball then that’s how to beat it but somewhere during the season teams learned they couldn’t run. Bring 4 and cover. Bring linebacker in the gap and blow up the run game.. We had no answer. Moore should have gone to a shorter pass game..

Correct, KM was pants in front of the league basically, As I have said before watching his flood routes against zone made me wince in pain....that scheme would be stopped by any DC coaching any friday night in Texas. Lamb looked lost in the slot lots of times and thats coaching to me...everyone is asking why the motion stopped and its because of pre snap penalties (which continued anyway) and blown routes. This is all coaching no team has a full set of football sevants but they sure as heck coach them to run the plays right during the week.

I think that injury during the pats game freaked him out..

We were 11-0 when we rushed for 100 yards or more. Not a more impressive offensive stat to me .

No wonder teams attempt to slow our running game .

And why I’d argue that should be our priority in offseason revamping our OL and RB’s.

Our running game used to be this teams identity with one of the best OL and a couple of league leading rushers in recent years . Everything revolves around it.

It makes our QB and passing game more effective and it mask our weaknesses on defense with controlling time of possession .

Whenever we are dependent on an all out passing force, while it might look impressive statistically it doesn’t usually end as well for us on the scoreboard.

Motion and even misdirection. And your right. These are coaching problems. On the line. The trenches is where we used to dominate. Now I am seeing 2 on 1 blocking rushers. That’s not what we used to play. Martin don’t need help blocking his guy. Lol. Get in the second level and take out a line backer. Maybe it was Martin trying to help the center. Next season the center better be able to handle his business and Williams can be gone. Out of all these holding and false start penalties how many was on him. 12 games with no run game the last 9 games. Imagine us with a run game like 2016..

I think our QB deserves some criticism as well. Even Romo pointed out all of the receivers open he either didn’t see or didn’t feel were open enough.

When you watch this team, you have to wonder if they even practice. We've said that for years, but seriously. It was said that we practiced the final play of the season on a weekly basis? Really? Because it doesn't look like they practice the most basic plays.

A lot of people are saying nothing will change. Rinse, repeat, same old same old, etc., but I’m not so sure. Sometimes, “tweaks” make all the difference. I’m in the camp that wants a new OL Coach, fix the trenches, get another RB and tweak the playbook, but we haven’t done that—yet. But if we do nothing else, let’s look at it logically:
1)got a kicker
2)getting a new WR Coach.
3)player movement—Lawrence, Cooper and a few others are likely gone.
4)NFL Draft
5)Free agency
6)Likely scheme adjustments
7)Different schedule
8)Team health
9)Penalties
10)Weather and circumstance

Combine everything, and that’s a lot of change. Every year is a seperate entity.
Is Jerry still owner/

I like your optimism, but my gut tells me it’s going to take more than tweaking…..the Niners and Bills sound more like teams that just need tweaking.
Unfortunately your right. It has to be working before you can simply tweak. Our run game needs coaching and a new face or 2.

Ooh absolutley he does...the problem is figuring out how much, same problem we have had for years...the way its being ran no one can say if the players can actually get it done because the whole damn thing seems to crash when the chips are down. Again its a no win argument..could Mahomes win here, I dont know, does he overcome 120+ yards in penalties while facing the niner's defense? Maybe but you wouldnt bet on it. right? Is he better than Dak absolutley but he has also played bad in those situations like every other QB...thats the thing..this GM refuses to let his own "Hand picked team" play on an even playing field by getting a full coaching staff in here that are all moving the same damn direction under a "In charge" HC.

Crazy they don’t realize that. It’s not like they aren’t hearing it all the time. Run off tackle and toss plays. RPO’s. Mix it up. He just does the same thing. Down by 3 points then scrap the run game. Linehan did the same thing. I understand the pass game is where the NFL has been heading but we are proof that you can’t do it with out at least a middle of the pack run game. And pocket passing is not Dak. He made his case for a contract with passing off the run game. And he was a part of the run game. Taking off with it 3 or 4 times a game..

Dak most times isn’t going to beat good teams w/ his arm, but a good running game will because it can set up so many other things.

Again I'm not defending Dak but most QB's will have problems when a good defense makes them 1 dimensional..its pretty easy to cover from full zone and know you can stop the run and get pressure with 4 down....thats a no win for any QB trying to pass the ball. Heck our defense made huge strides doing this once we had a lead.

Heck yeah he does. He has to get part of the blame. I see him throw the ball and somewhere on that field is a receiver standing there. Usually a shorter route. I would only see him fire the ball down field with no hesitation when the Defense jumps and it’s a free play. And they are almost always a completion. But it’s not right to say if we lose then it’s the QB but if we win it’s a team game. Penalties are a coaching issue when it happens all year in the same areas. When you know we win almost everytime we call a even and balanced game and ditch the run game after we are down by 3 and only run a few up the gut runs then that’s your OC.

SF did that to GB as well. Rodgers offense 1 TD on the game and a FG.

And it’s the way we did it for a long time. It used to be the Defense that let us down. People would say we run the ball and dink and dunk. Would love to see the dink and dunk after the pats game. It sets up the run.
