What coach would even want to come here to start over?

I want a young, stud OC type to work with Lance.

A guy like LaFleur or McDaniel (not those guys specifically, but a guy like that).

But I am guessing if Jerry does make a HC change, he's doing it with the belief the roster is high quality. So in that sense, if you got him a good OC, I could live with Vrabel as I think he'd be a real culture change in the locker room. Not my favorite candidate but within the confines we know Jerry will have in place, he might be the best we could hope for.

Honestly I don't think it matters. I don't think Jones can not only accept the fact MM needs to go, he won't go so far as to fire him.

I'll be surprised is 2024 season opener doesn't find him right back on the Cowboys sideline.

Hopefully someone who understands you can't stop the clock if you're trying to run it out. I guess that's too much to ask though.

I wouldn't work for Jones and be a lame duck. Nobody with any amount of self-respect is going to do it unless they are completely broke and don't have any other options.

I'm the opposite. I want a solid DC who has a history of building and development of a sustainable strong D.

I suspect though Jerry wants the opposite

Not sure because it will take a decade or more to rebuild from this crap heap.

DC podcasts already suggest he is back... will run it back with another DC and blame DQ

I’d rather run it back entirely than get into a full rebuild run by Jerry and his kid.

The division still stinks.

Maybe they get lucky and decide it’s a decent idea to show up for playoff games at some point.

Yes because this strategy has paid off so well for us the last few years.

How many times should a person willingly ask to get hit in the face with a frying pan before realizing it hurts and broke your nose?

Run it back entirely is 99.9% guaranteed to just result in the same **** we've seen for a few years now. Beat up on the dogs, scuffle in the big games, maybe get lucky and draw a dog from the NFC South in the first round and then promptly look inept and lose and not sniff the NFCCG.

I wasnt clear, but it was about half tongue in cheek.

I don’t know what to think anymore. Usually I’m all about what needs to be done from here but I’m at a full loss.

Wont even be able to enjoy next season even if they are any damn good…or create that illusion that is.

Didn't even hit me until now. I guess you could bring Mike back. But how enticing is this job if you are selling a rebuild? A rebuild with Jerry of all people?

I've been banging the drum of start over from scratch......what coach would even want to come here to start over?
JJ drives the narrative that his franchise attracts everybody. That is not the case. It was maybe in the 90s. But not today.

We attract people who like to establish their brands or businesses (Prescott, DFlaw etc...).
Out of the league coaches that are looking for a last contract to make some money.

We dont attract players or coaches who want to achieve something meaningful in sports. And there is no chance we will sign such players or coaches.

Depends if they can have autonomy and choose their QB. I wouldn’t want it if Dak resigned to a massive extension.

A coach that wants to feast on a weak NFC east team and pad his resume with all the attention and nationally televised games. The Dallas Cowboys are a marketing machine. A huge money maker. Any coach that wants the limelight and to further his brand would want to come here.

Part of the frustration with me is how much the Cowboys are a resume building/marketing machine 1st and a football team 2nd. If a coach wants to get rich and pad his stats with no pressure to win anything then come to Dallas.

A young coordinator trying to make a name for themselves
Being young is just as bad as being old (like Belichick). What young'un would want to waste their formative (and best) years working for Jerry?
