What coach would even want to come here to start over?

Jerry is really left with no logical choice but to find new HC and staff.

Lame duck coach trying to find a DC

Need to designate Dak as post June 1st cut if you can't get him to waive clause or trade 2 of Bland Micah CeeDee

There is no room to pay em all. And makes no sense to do so at this point.

Didn't even hit me until now. I guess you could bring Mike back. But how enticing is this job if you are selling a rebuild? A rebuild with Jerry of all people?

I've been banging the drum of start over from scratch......what coach would even want to come here to start over?
It's why I think whatever coach comes he's going to keep the qb. You can't bring in anyone with a record and expect them to start from beyond scratch. We haven't even paved the way. Best case is you blow it up, end up with a ton of draft picks and free space, then bring in your ringer. Otherwise they are just here losing job security.

Being young is just as bad as being old (like Belichick). What young'un would want to waste their formative (and best) years working for Jerry?
You got me none.

Fold up shop. Sell team there are no coaches wanting a head coach job.

We need someone who can talk to the team like this vs glazing over the Dennys menu play sheet

Yes because this strategy has paid off so well for us the last few years.

How many times should a person willingly ask to get hit in the face with a frying pan before realizing it hurts and broke your nose?

Run it back entirely is 99.9% guaranteed to just result in the same **** we've seen for a few years now. Beat up on the dogs, scuffle in the big games, maybe get lucky and draw a dog from the NFC South in the first round and then promptly look inept and lose and not sniff the NFCCG.
don't ride losers.

You think the run back would be the same but not the rebuild?

I've never bought in to the narrative nobody wants to come to Dallas to deal with the JJ...this is the premier franchise in all of sports...every coach that has worked with JJ has only said good things about him...even Jimmy and Parcells. Over the past 15+ years, the Cowboys have drafted the most pro-bowlers and all pros...which does point to good players being part of the equation. Plus any coach who is under consideration for an NFL head coaching job is confident enough that they believe they are the one who will write the new success story for the team they coach. I believe that if the job was offered to 32 HCs no less than 30 would accept.

The only chance that the Cowboys would have to turn this thing around is to hire a coach with some skins on the wall that can make the Jones Boys release their chokehold on the team, even if a little. A new, young coach will get steamrolled by Big Tom and Tommy Boy - you need someone like Belichick or Harbaugh who can get them to back off as a condition of being hired (as they will have options elsewhere). And, with Belichick, there would need to be a personnel guy involved to prevent him from messing up the roster with the flotsam that we saw in New England the last five plus years.

But, the Joneses won't do this, so it kind of doesn't matter.

I’d rather run it back entirely than get into a full rebuild run by Jerry and his kid.

The division still stinks.

Maybe they get lucky and decide it’s a decent idea to show up for playoff games at some point.
That hasn’t worked

First, they aren't going to be selling a rebuild. This was a 12-5 team, and although they obviously needed something different to get past the 1st round of the playoffs, it's something they will sell as something to build on, not destroy and start over.

In any case, coaches that would be interested are ones that don't have a job, or at least a head coaching job, or that have a job that pays them significantly less money. Obviously some may not be candidates because they don't want to deal with Jerry, but some will be looking to make a mark with a high profile team.

I subsequently tried to clarify what I meant.

A rebuild is probably the way to go….but I can’t get excited about these clowns handling it. Let Jerry implode trying then just maybe the kid will realize they need to hire actual football people once the old man is gone.

Really though…what I want, or YOU want doesn’t much matter. We have to sit and watch and take what actually happens. Or don’t.

I’d love to learn how to not.
