What Constitutes A Successful Season?

We've clinched HFA. Dak and Zeke have bright futures. With that said, there are no guarantees. It's possible ( Knock on wood it doesn't happen) we get beat in the firSt playoff game. It's possible we win the SB.

What constitutes success for you as a fan? Make it to the NFCCG at minimum? SB? Already a success? No matter what happens, do you foresee us being an elite team going forward?

I think it has already happened. Dak will start the entire season and continue with his seasoning and development for the future. I think we all way a SB championship, but the big picture is the talent that has been added to this team and making this a dynasty.

We have a very bright future. You could justify Dak going #1 overall in a re-draft and we basically got a generational type RB, a potential steal at LB, an exceptional DT all BEFORE our franchise pro-bowl-mvp candidate QB. That's just insane. I'd say we've already exceeded expectations but we all know we've set a very high bar. Honestly depends on how the opponent shapes up and how the games play out to determine how we did. There are choke-underperforming losses and losses where a play or bounce determines the outcome of a hard fought game. At the end of the day we have a rookie QB but my hopes are sky high.

For me, it's already happened.

No matter what, this season has already been wildly successful. The Cowboys are back baby!

The present is a 13-3 record in a season that I thought was over before it started.

The present is a pair of rookies leading the league and setting records left and right, making the Pro Bowl right out of the gate.

And no matter what happens this year, the future looks incredibly bright. The two young cornerstones at two key positions, one the most important in all of sports (in my opinion), and what looks to be a grand slam of a draft already, with the possibility of two more contributors being added to it for 2017.

Add to that a defense that has exceeded any expectations I had for them, with a draft re-stocking hopefully coming in 2017?

That's already successful in my book. More than I ever could have hoped for. At this point, I'm enjoying and savoring every bit of this already magical ride. I can't lose.

A championship would be the 'icing on the cake', but, for me, I've already 'won'.

This has already been a dream season. I couldn't have asked for more. The Club is heading in the right direction at long last and there will be a few Championship runs to look forward to. A Conference Championshio Game would be great...but its really gravy to me. Next year...its the SB.

Yo be 100% honest, I want the Cowboys to run the table, and big. The main reason is because I want to silence the critics and haters. I am sick of seeing all the comments in the Facebook posts by ESPN and NFL about the Cowboys being "one and done" and "don't worry, they'll lose in the playoffs". I want this team to break the stigma that the Cowboys can't compete in the playoffs. I want the Cowboys to be feared again.

I totally agree! Why not Us? Why not now? I look around the NFL and don't see any superteams that Cowboys can't beat, contrary to all the talking heads. They already have the Pats penciled into the Superbowl. Wow  As long as the Cowboys play THIER game and don't turn the ball over they'll compete with any team.

Dallas should have a higher standard than most teams.

IMO, Dallas has to at least make it to the Superbowl.

They have dominated the NFC and they better dominate it for 2 playoff games.

IMO, the criteria for a "successful season" is going to depend on where you're at, realistically, as a franchise.

If you're the Browns, and you win 9 games next year and barely miss the playoffs, you can feel okay about that.

Now, if that's what we do next year, totally different story.

As for THIS season? Yes, it's been a successful year. That much has been accomplished. Any fan who disagrees has been moving the goalposts each week, or they had unrealistic expectations to begin with.

Now, obviously I'm forming this opinion as a fan. I'm sure the staff and players won't feel like this was a success unless they have a ring in 6 weeks.

Already a successful season, beyond this everything is gravy. But having said that I'm greedy and want a championship.

Do you look back on 2007 as a successful season or a disappointment?

Everything is not gravy. We have to have playoff success. It's time for this organization to get itself over the hump. Right now.

This is a team that used to measure itself on if they won the Superbowl. That is where we need to get to.

I think this season has been a success for the organization with the future looking brighter than ever, this is a young team not a team whose so called window is closing.
I think for the players this season nothing less than the SB will satisfy them

Of course this has been a successful season already. 13 wins is a total the Cowboys have only had twice before. And if they really wanted or needed to, this team could hit 14. Most ever by the Cowboys. That is certainly successful.

But now that we're here, I want to at least play in the Super Bowl. We've completely dominated the NFC, so the next two games should be the proof. All bets are off against NE, but we should give them a ride they won't forget.
