What could the Cowboys learn from the Philly team building model

Lines of scrimmage are the foundation to winning the game. QB’s have some importance, but like all other players-they are commodities. Once the commodity looks like it’s fading-see ya later (and who cares if the team implodes).

Build a strong running game with a great offensive line, but target high end receiving weapons and pay high draft pick if you can secure a young one.

Continue adding high draft capital to the defensive front. If the draft falls a certain way, take a high end secondary player with the premium picks. Focus on cerebral players that can adjust to different offenses-especially in the secondary.

The game today did not go like most of the Philly games this year-they adjusted and took advantage of one on one matchups. No running game? No problem. Jalen also used his legs several times to good effect.

One things for certain is the fans have to stop blaming “ coaching”. Kellen Moore is a SB winning OC and the fans hated the guy here. The cowboys players just simply choke. Another thing that’s clear is the Eagles GM is the best in the league. He is very good at not only drafting but he is GREAT at structuring contracts.

I learned nothing. I have known after decades of football viewing that games are won and lost in the trenches 95% of the time. Dominant D Lines matter. That said watch Jerry and Stevie have the card run to podium at pick 12 and draft a weapon to prop up the mistake at QB. Hint hint, if there is a highly talented D Lineman there, he should be the pick.

You can run the ball, you can stop the run you have a good chance of winning.

Trade for Myles garret, draft a game wrecker of a DT.

Draft a RB in the 2nd round on. We'd be on to something.

But we won't so why bother dreaming.

The Eagles have the best Oline and the best Dline in the league,if we concentrate on making those 2 great we could go a long way but dont hold your breadth as Jerry has already signaled its business as usual.

Kellen Moore benefitted by being the offensive coordinator of an Eagles offense who has the best offensive line, best running back and best receiving corp in the league. There are 20 other offensive coordinators who would have looked just as good with all of those talented offensive pieces.

If Moore was truly that good, he would have done the same thing with the Chargers. Moore is a serviceable coordinator but pump your brakes on thinking he's one of the top coordinators in the game.

One of the main problems facing the Cowboys other than the Neolithic incompetence of their Front Office is that Jerry will most likely have to draft another WR, TE or RB to give Dak weapons in order to give him a fighting chance of success; therefore, the d-lines and o-lines will not get the attention they command for at least this year.

Eagles use void contracts.

that bill will need to be paid someday.
I agree but that’s not the point of the thread. Eagles dominated the trenches today and that’s why they won. They’ve won 2 Super Bowls in the last decade and both Super Bowls were won by defense. They beat Mahomes in his prime and Brady in his prime. Defense wins championships.

Our “model” is to get a great offense to set up our defense. We need to reverse that. We need a defense that will take pressure off the offense.

We’re building our team backwards. Tonight’s game was a great example of winning in the trenches. Everyone expected, especially me, that the Chiefs would come out and open it up and get a lead and the Eagles would be playing catch up. The exact opposite happened. The Eagles frustrated Mahomes by dominating the trenches and the Chiefs couldn’t get going.

Our team building philosophy is fundamentally flawed. We need to beef up the trenches, especially on defense.

Right! That goes to my point. We didn’t/don’t need another Schoonmaker and we don’t need another WR. We need dominant offensive and defensive lines. Dak’s best chance of success is not through a TE, WR or even a RB. Dominant trenches would take so much pressure off Dak and then he can play loose like Hurts played tonight.

Jerry, Crater Face and their army of yes men couldn't build a Philly type d-line if their lives depended on it. They don't value the position and when they do invest some draft capital in it, they inevitably pick sad sack busts like Taco Charlton and Mazi Smith.

Don't get your hopes up.

We built our team this way with our line in 2014 . We just didn’t add anything to our defense in 2016 after we drafted Dak. That was the time to build, also had another chance in 2021, drafted parsons went 12-5 when no one thought we would be that good. Offseason came and did nothing. Weak ****
