from all this change for 2020?

It's all still very early as we all know.

    New coaches all around

    New offensive schemes with WCO

New defensive schemes with a likely change back to 3-4 as the base D

New ST emphasis kicking and field position goals

Turnover of no one knows how many FAs

Injuries to key players like Wolf Hunter, Tank, Connor William's and Tyron Smith clouding foreseen progress.

None of this has me overly juiced about 2020.

Seems to me we should be prepared for another low yield season ahead while we get things rebuilt.

Do you guys see this or am I missing a silver lining somewhere?

Opinions and clear eyed advice requested.

    :omg:

I'm just glad expectations are back. They ceased to exist under Garrett. I expect better than 8-8.

I fear your team wins the East next year. We are in transition with many positions.

what i expect, a good evaluation of the players, some pieces might stay this year, some pieces will go. I want the draft to make sense, put the efense over the top, or make the offense leaner. Many ways it can go. The big question, what to do with Dak and let that set the offense. Im not looking at record this year, lets first see if FA sets up the draft, or if the draft sets up the rest of FA. Than move to off season, and install new philosophies. Do we let teh team go through Dak or the offense? Than how does the D change? More hybrid, more mobility, run stuffer type.

The off season has to set the tone for the pre season. MM has to get his staff to bring up a good plan, this is what we want to do with the D, we gotta make it flow. Does a better DL make it easier for the DBs, or do the Dbs buy the DL more time? Do we want to attack the QB or try to outsmart ourselves like Rod did? im looking at the nuts and bolts and see if this can set us up for the season. Plus keep an eye on what the Giants and Redskins do, their staffs can make a difference on what we do.

I think you can outline everything under the sun that has changed but the big one is Jason Garrett exiting the building. I can't think of a less qualified head coach in this league so I think it all starts with that move first. To sit around and speculate on all these coaches is fun but none of us have a clue on how it's all gonna shake out.

Regardless the offensive and defensive schemes, I expect both units to be more unpredictable and more attacking.

I expect to win the turnover battle

Also, regardless what's happens offensively and defensively, I expect the ST's play to be a whole lot better

    Good points.

Yeah about the Giants and Redskins and their effect being unknown.

They have to be happy about closing the distance b/w them and us.

The Eagles certainly have to be favored but who knows.

I think jason garrett was let go because he went 8-8 with a far more talented roster than 8 wins. You still have the core starters coming back, with the exception of possibly byron jones. You have opportunity to see significant upgrades at DT, S, and TE. youre not handicap by the cap this year, or lacking draft picks. I see no reason why expectations shouldn't be high. If you need a year to transition your team to fit new schemes then you probably shouldnt be changing schemes.

NFC East winners and at least a visit to the NFCC game. That's my goal.

Think we can see a Parcells to Phillips boost this year. Change of voice and direction hopefully will resonate with the players.

The way too early expectations meter would indicate.....

    1. Philly
    2. Dallas
    3. Washington
    4. NY Giants

Of course, that is dependent on the draft, free agency, how much each team accomplishes in training camp, the schedule, and who gets off to a hot start.

Same here Big_D, Dumping Garrett has brought back "Hope". There's no guarantees with any new coach and staff, but there's hope! And that's more than we had under Garrett's "process".
I think McCarthy should have an opportunity to prove himself without all the premature negativity.
He has a winning record, he's selecting his own staff, and he has a pretty decent team to start with, and a chance to change the Cowboy's country club atmosphere.
I'm ready for some change! :flagwave:

I just don't see it with Philly being in first. They got rid of coaches. Pederson hasn't been the same since they won the SB. And then there's Wentz.

The guy has yet to complete an entire season. The only way I see them winning the division is if Dallas gives it to them, again. NOT!

If we can do anything to address the defense in FA and nail the draft, no reason to think we can't do what San Fran is doing. If we sit on our hands in FA, I don't expect more than a divisional game at best.

Great post. As I've said in previous threads, I'm not expecting much with the new regime for the first year. Year 2 is a different ballgame... As others have said, he's a superbowl winning coach, he's been a lot father than Garrett has in the playoffs. My personal feeling is SB or bust in year 2, I'm not saying necessarily winning the superbowl but at least make the appearance on the field and not in the stands or at home watching it on TV.

I don't have any expectations at the moment, right now I'm just happy that Garrett is finally gone. Ask again in a few months as training camp nears. Maybe by then some expectations might creep in.

All good points. One thing I’m expecting and hoping like hell for is the end of the bend but don’t break Marinelli defense.

You and me both! Getting rid of Garrett was the 1st and biggest step, along with getting Jerry off the nepotism train.
Nepotism is the only reason we were stuck for sooo long with Garrett's incompetence.

Rock every once in a while you post something I really like, and the bold print above is it!
I'm sick and tired of Marinelli's Bend till it breaks defense.
And sometimes it didn't take long to break.
