What do you think the starting OL will look like next year?

I know. But they brought him here for a reason. I thought it might've been because Collins wouldn't be back for the playoffs, but it looks like they took him off IR. I don't think Cooper is for this year. If somehow 2 interior OLmen went down, I think they'd go with Looney over Cooper because he knows the system. I think they brought in Cooper to get an extended look and have dibs on signing him in the offseason. If he's legit, I could see them letting Leary go. Maybe they're content on moving Collins to RT and want to see if they should spend the money on Leary at LG.

I don't think there's a chance the Leary returns, unless somehow teams are scared off by his knee condition and his market tanks. But I don't anticipate that being the case. But there's no way Dallas pays him big money, and there's no way he takes less money to stay. He's looking to maximize his earning potential as much as he can.

This organization loved Cooper (just check out Jerry's comments). Unless he shows a poor attitude or mistakenly thinks he can make big money, I expect the team to sign him and gave him compete to start at left guard.

Then the question I have is if they feel Collins can play right tackle and give him a legitimate chance to start there. Doug Free is at the end as a starter.

Since he is still under contract next year, there may be $$ implications that keep him here.

Actually the opposite. His salary balloons up to a total cost of $7.5 million, making him a restructure or release candidate.

This would be excellent, but they seem so intent on not putting Collins at RT.
Not now at least. Free has actually been pretty steady the past 3 seasons and for that reason alone, I think they've been waiting to try out Collins at RT. But with his contract being up in a year and his ever increasing penalty count rising,I think/hope they make the move this offseason.

This is what I see happening. Cheap and high potential.
Exactly what I was thinking.

Cooper will like his opportunity next season even if they bring him back for peanuts. He's trying to make a name for himself and what easier way to do it than be sandwiched between two all pros?!
(So that answers why he will come back)

Collins can finally make the switch to RT this offseason like many of us have wanted.

Life behind that online would be very nice.

First round talents across the board.

That would be awesome.

Smith, Cooper, Frederick, Martin, Collins

Also I think it's funny that a couple months ago I proposed Collins to be RT and got totally lambasted by >75% of CZ. Now with Free being Free, everyone is onboard the Collins RT pancake train

The thing is if the team thought of him as OT he would have come into camp as OT to replace Free his rookie year but instead saw more potential at LG over an above average guard at the time, Leary. What is it all the Couch Cushion scouts see that lets them think Collins will be a better RT than OG.
