The first consideration is the owner/GM and knowing just how much latitude a new HC will have. We do not know if he will be allowed to hire his own staff and the Joneses may want the new HC to keep Moore as the OC.

Do you want a HC that wears a coordinator hat as well? If so, which side of the ball?

Do you want a college coach or a coordinator with another NFL team that does not have HC experience?

I don't have the name, bit will suggest a couple, but I know the type coach I want. I want a D coach to fix this D and if that means moving on from some of these players, so be it, but this D is unacceptably inconsistent. Many here have over valued these players.

There are two names and one is going to throw you but there is a connection with him and the Joneses. The first is Robert Saleh, Niners DC, he's young, energetic and he's done a great job with that D but he does have good talent to work with as well.

The other is Brett Bielema, the DLC for NE. He's got experience and is the reason we took Yosemite where we did as Bielema had become HC at AR, after leaving WIS, and there's where the connection with the Joneses is.

His forte has been line play and he's excelled at taking raw talent to the next level on both sides of the ball and he's all about the fundamentals. The fact that Belichick would select him to coach his DL is not only an endorsement but the reason Trey Flowers stayed his senior year at AR was because he wanted to help his HC. His players really like playing for him. He also loves the run game.

I would not be surprised for him to surface as a strong candidate once this opens up. The Joneses know him and they know how he might fit in with them.

I'll settle for one that can at least make halftime adjustments. Im not asking for much

What I don't want it another yes man. The problem is, as long as Jerry is the GM, that's what you're going to get. Jerry runs the show and until that changes, there's no coach that will have the latitude to be able to do what needs to be done for this team to win consistently year in and year out.

exploiting opponents' weaknesses, impeccable clock management, holding players and position coaches accountable, in-game adjustments, be more vocal / critical of the officiating

NO CLAPPING

I want traits that are the exact opposite of JG. Mean, harsh, willing, passionate, emotional (non-robotic), no clapping, etc.

Someone that has won. I don’t care where he’s won, HS, College, NFL. I want a winning mentality with skins on the wall. Trophies, etc. That’s goes a long way when preaching to these young players. When they speak they believe him.

1 - The knowledge of the game and the rules to have an understanding of what's going on at all times to make the best decisions in-game.
2- The ability to instill fear and strict accountability in the franchise to perform at a high level. This coach also makes his team miserable when they lose.
3 - Big time coaching experience, at the college or pro level. This was something that Jerry valued before Garrett.
4 - Someone who believes in analytics and the progressing beyond archaic schemes and ideas.
5 - The football acumen to make adjustments when the opposing DC and OC's have stifled the game plan.
6- Fire. The last two Head Coaches in Dallas have had ZERO fire.
7 - I want a coach with guts and someone who is proactive instead of reactive. I want a coach that goes for it on 4th and 2 at the opponent's 38 yard line, and not a coach that goes for it on 4th & 2 and their own 19 to make a point.
8 - I want a coach that can adapt his scheme to the personnel he has. SF and BAL have done a terrific job at this this season. This is one of Garrett's most glaring weaknesses as a game planner.

I could go on and on, but it's clear in my mind that I'll take almost anyone over Garrett these days.

I'd like to see someone from the defensive side as head coach. I still think defense wins championships although it take all three teams, offense, defense and special teams, to make a team successful.

I would like to see discipline and accountability.

Adaptability seems to be something that is trendy, so I'll go with that - not only gameday, but game planning during the week, more focus on attacking a weakness and changing things up. I know the current HC has some good traits too, which may be missed, but I'll roll the dice with having a HC that uses the ability to change as an organizational philosophy.

Someone who can win a game with scheme, and who understand that every thing you do should be to favor your offense.
