I know many will point to his stats but a lot of those stats have come in less than meaningful situations. This is not Irvin who when this team needed some one to step up he did so. Evidently unless we force the ball to Owens early he is worthless late in games pretty much using his own words. I expect Owens to adjust to this what this offense does not have 10 others adjust to Owens.
True.
Besides the Atlanta game, I struggle to remember too many other important games where he had a major impact.
A case could possibly be made that he is one of the highest paid decoys in the NFL. Personally, though I loathe the guy, this team is alot better with him than without him.
Not the case all the time, but the opposition does fear Me-Owens, scheme and account for him and often times double him.
Again, besides LTN, I probably dislike this guy the most but I just dont see how the blame for another meltdown at the end of the year can be placed at this guys' feet.
He is an easy out and scapegoat. He is an easy target because he is one guy and you can get rid of him easy enough. But if you point the finger at what I believe to be the real problem, Parcells and the Coaching staff, well that opens up a whole can of worms and is a more complicated problem because they are not as easy to replace/fix.
