What does all of the restructing of contracts mean for 2014, 2015, 2016 Caps?

But how much? Andrew Brandt was right about the new CBA when he said the first couple of years would be flat and then it would rise slightly and MIGHT rise a fair amount in 2015 and the most likely time for a big raise was 2016.

BUT a lot of money is now going to retirement ( 1 Billion just for pre 1993 retirees) AND a lot is going to health benefits that will ONLY RISE from here on in.

So 8-10 million a year in advances in the Cap is NOT going to happen.

My bad, I meant 2016, too far away I guess.:p: Just look at how the contracts are structured. The nfl teams like the ravens are banking on a big rise in the cap. Otherwise they are going to have to renegotiate those contracts if they are wrong.

Flacco's cap hit in 2016 will be over 28 million, 2017 over 31 million, 2018 over 24 million.

IF the money goes up say 3-5 mil in 2015 and 5-8 mil in 2016 we are probably able to slip by. But that right now is a real gamble.

Jerruh is at heart an old Texas Wildcatter. Who are natural gamblers. So this is really what should be expected.

I re-edited. Ravens and other teams are banking on the cap increase.

It's only bad money management if you want to make big splashes in FA. The Boys obviously decided this wasn't the year for big personnel changes.

I don't believe it was the team's choice to not improve the the roster via free agency, they simply placed themselves in a bad cap situation and had to restructure a large number of players to simply maintain the roster at status quo. It was more a situation of cap mismanagement than willful avoidance of the FA market. There are clearly some big holes on the roster - more than can be filled via the draft.

not so much CAP mismanagement as PLAYER mismanagement. Between MB3 and Roy and Rats contracts and a couple of others we put ourselves in bad shape. We did not choose correctly on who we needed to keep; but I do agree we also OVERSPENT

I disagree. I really think the team likes the player's they have. Some bad injuries and bad coaching were more of a problem than talent. They like Church and Johnson at S. They spent on Livings and Bern last year and had to play the 5th team C after injuries. I think they need an OG/OT, SLB, DT and backup RB and can get all of them in the draft and a couple bargain FAs.
