What does the org see in Terrance Mitchell?

With some people you are either an All Pro or a scrub. And even veteran CBs are going have a tough time this season with the ticky-tack penalties.

I agree, I just want you lows not to be too low. I like players that you can count on more often that not to get the job done. I for one am sick of saying a 3rd and 13 or worse converted because a DB can't cover or even be in the same zip code as the WR.

I've almost made this post several times, because I don't see it either and never have.

Patmon looks like 5X the player Mitchell is. Patmon plays with good zone/man intelligence and while not perfect by any stretch, looks like a player that can help the team.

Mitchell plays like his feet are in cement. He's horrific.

No clue what anyone in the organization sees as upside with this guy. He scooped up a ball in the first game and tried to return it 9 yards deep in the endzone. Other than he has stunk to high heaven the entire preseason.

They like him being able to stick with his guy, tackle and play aggressively in the neutral zone. They don't like his contact outside the neutral zone and his hands all over the receiver while many are looking. He needs coaching but his skills to play are evident. Whether he can overcome the flaws is a guess now.

I was pumped about the draft pick, but yeah, he's not ready to play in the NFL.

I think skills are there, but PS the player until then.

I agree. But, it's all about practice in the NFL. Good practice players find their ways on squads. Bad practice players don't.

For me, I was far more impressed with Patmon than Mitchell. That first INT (not the TD return) was exactly how you're supposed to play that ball. And the 2nd INT was a little more luck, but a great play nonetheless. But, if he doesn't show that in practice coaches just won't count on him doing it in the game.

He made a great tackle in the red zone for little gain last night that kept the receiver from getting into the end zone. Any defense but this one especially needs DBs that are physical sure tacklers to minimize the yards after catch. When Lynch was the announcer for one of our games that was one of his main points about keys to make the defense work.

It was easy to get taken in by the hype he was getting from practice in camp but obviously, he needs more grooming. He'll likely end up on the practice squad for more seasoning. It's really tough for a 7th rounder to come in and be anywhere near ready for the NFL.

Well, part of the game is staying healthy and tackling. So far, good on those fronts. He needs work on his pass protection. Typical for all 7th rounders. But, there seems to be something there to develop and that is the key. One of the hard parts about camp is projecting growth for young players.

If you put him in Seattle right now or some other team with a good pass rush, I think he would be very serviceable as a rookie CB. Nothing great but maybe get by with a little help in coverage from a safety.

Mitchell isn't going to give you a whole game of decent play right now, but he might be able to give us a couple of good series or maybe a quarter if needed.

August 8th:
Terrance Mitchell would have had a good night if he wasn't grabbing his receiver so much. He must integrate that aspect into his game because the rules are going to work against him being that aggressive.
Coach Henderson has his work cut out for him still.

I was kind of high on him, thinking they may have a future player here at some point. And they may still have one. But not right now, after watching him play. But in fairness to him, and learning everything he needs to learn, and with the dictator goodell's emphasis on the ticky tack calls, he's learnig the refs way of calls, also.

After the one penalty last night, after another 3rd down stop, only to give Denver another 1st down by penalty, all I remember is Jason's look on the sideline after mitchell's latest penalty, just shaking his head, like man I don't believe this guy.

If Mitchell makes the final roster, which I thought he would until I seen Jason's look, he will be inactive quite a bit.

I can also see him making the 53, but getting replaced with a waiver wire guy.

is he a starter ready player? no
is he worth developing? we will see
not sure why people would expect a guy taken at the end of the draft to come in ready to start in the nfl.
he has some tools but he has to learn a new way to play the position than he played it in college. that may take some time or it may never happen. thats what you get in the late rounds of the draft.
but i still remember people bashing scandricks play and jerry for signing him and now he is one of our best cb's and one of the better slot db's in the league.
even guys taken in the early rounds need to be developed in most cases. why would anyone expect a guy taken at the end of the last round not to be in need of development

I think they cut him and put him on the practice squad.

The CB options for game 1:
Carr
Claiborne
Patmon
Moore
CB/Safety Thomas

I would keep him over Thomas who is more likely to stay on the PS.
