Honestly, I think this says more about the intelligence of our receivers - or the lack thereof - more than anything.
I know posters may not like this but ... I think part of Romo's turnover problems had to do with receivers not running their routes correctly and, in some cases, not catching balls. But Romo played the reliable solider and never threw anyone under the bus.
Dak comes in, doesn't force the football and tells Dez if you're open, you'll get the ball. You can read between the lines. And notice who has a big year: Cole Beasley. I'm sure the Cowboys took note of this and also how the Patriots thrive without an Adonis at wide receiver. They just take short, fleet receivers who know how to work underneath the coverage, who can catch and who will be where they're supposed to be.
Enter Ryan Switzer, another receiver along with Beasley and Witten who know where to be on the field and another receiver Dak can trust.
I'll pick Rico. Just messing w yaDez Bease ZEKE Rico Switzer

I don't think it's over. This is still a TE-centric offense in my mind because of what the TE's can mean to the passing game based off their ability to run block and pass receive. And if Rico turns out somewhere in the same neighborhood as his potential, it's going to continue to be a TE-centric offense. When Witten struggles with his blocking, this offense usually suffers for it. When his blocking is on, the offense becomes tough to beat because you can do a lot of things in 12 and 11 personnel. When Swaim went out, the offense suffered a bit last year.
To me, Switzer was likely the BPA on their board. And while Beasley has yet to get hurt (fingers crossed), in Dak's first year Beasley became a favorite target and was a top-5 most efficient target. In essence, if Beasley were to get hurt there would likely be a gaping hole in our offense. I kinda doubt that Switzer can completely fill that gap as a rookie, but he could do a pretty good job.
Furthermore, you can always use him in 10 personnel or even 11 personnel and take out T-Will. And if Beasley needs a breather, you can insert him for Beasley. Plus, he has some real punt returner skills to help out. YR
I don't think that's a question. Linehan has proved his creativity long ago. What he has done with this offense since he has taken over has been brilliant.
It'll be interesting to see how Switzer is utilized. Also, the fact that he also played running back is VERY interesting as well. I'm not suggesting taking snaps from Zeke. That would be ridiculous but to use him in a misdirection capacity. IDK much about ply design but I know I'd like to take advantage of the kids ability to run with the ball.Anybody else thinking that the two-TE experiment is over?
I mean, if we're rolling with Swaim and Rico behind Witten, we must be expecting to just sprinkle them in to spell Witten here and there until one of them (and it sounds like the team hopes it's Rico) shows they're ready to take over.
For the record, I'm okay with that.
There's nothing wrong with having Dez and Witten out there with either Williams or Butler, and Beasley or Switzer, with Zeke in the backfield and DMac adding 5-10 carries per game. In fact, that's a very exciting offense that I can't wait to see!
You mean scoring 31 points and still losing the game? Yea, completely his fault our defense got shredded by a great quarterback. Get outta here!yes, the playoff win proves you right. whatever was i thinking.
