What drafting Switzer says about our TEs

Anybody else thinking that the two-TE experiment is over?

I mean, if we're rolling with Swaim and Rico behind Witten, we must be expecting to just sprinkle them in to spell Witten here and there until one of them (and it sounds like the team hopes it's Rico) shows they're ready to take over.

For the record, I'm okay with that.

There's nothing wrong with having Dez and Witten out there with either Williams or Butler, and Beasley or Switzer, with Zeke in the backfield and DMac adding 5-10 carries per game. In fact, that's a very exciting offense that I can't wait to see!

this is all going to rely on, can Linehan be creative when he needs to be creative and can he be smart when he needs to be smart. This is something Linehan juggles with at the worst times possible.

I don't think it's over. This is still a TE-centric offense in my mind because of what the TE's can mean to the passing game based off their ability to run block and pass receive. And if Rico turns out somewhere in the same neighborhood as his potential, it's going to continue to be a TE-centric offense. When Witten struggles with his blocking, this offense usually suffers for it. When his blocking is on, the offense becomes tough to beat because you can do a lot of things in 12 and 11 personnel. When Swaim went out, the offense suffered a bit last year.

To me, Switzer was likely the BPA on their board. And while Beasley has yet to get hurt (fingers crossed), in Dak's first year Beasley became a favorite target and was a top-5 most efficient target. In essence, if Beasley were to get hurt there would likely be a gaping hole in our offense. I kinda doubt that Switzer can completely fill that gap as a rookie, but he could do a pretty good job.

Furthermore, you can always use him in 10 personnel or even 11 personnel and take out T-Will. And if Beasley needs a breather, you can insert him for Beasley. Plus, he has some real punt returner skills to help out.

Clearly there was a "group", "class action" hypnotizing of all involved in drafting for the Dallas Cowboys.

To NOT pick a TE.... they must be going through withdrawals and shaking uncontrollably right now. Lol

they should go this route, they never figured out to run 2 TEs, and they had good players.

seems like they understood how to use wrs on mismatches. so happy to see this.

2x beas is going to be great.

jerry mentioned how dak throws to the open guy, so with zeke and 2xbeas. the offense is going to be unstoppable. teams load up on the run, just dink and dunk them. if teams go nickel, then zeke will get them.

Or you could just put Switzer in the other slot when we go 4 wide. That seems to me that it could be the perfect addition to the ball control offense we have.

Everyone is always complaining about Dallas getting a speedster WR but big plays is really not how the Cowboys want to play offense. We want to play ball control and keep our defense off the field and having another phenomenal short yardage weapon on the field for 3rd and short makes us a better team.

On 3rd and 5...how can you cover Beas, Switzer, Witten and a mobile QB? You can't.

You can try to single up Dez and you will fail.

For sure, the offense hasn't been handicapped from what this fan sees...

I don't think Switzer is going to get on the field much. There's not enough balls to go around, we saw that with Harris when he was here and currently with Whitehead. What we need is a better return game and Switzer is the upgrade.

I don't think that's a question. Linehan has proved his creativity long ago. What he has done with this offense since he has taken over has been brilliant.

Look what the Patriots did with their small wideouts. Small, fast and shifty = first downs and touchdowns.

What is the prognosis for Hanna anyway? I liked what he had when he was playing but have heard almost nothing about his current status.

I think Romo had a lot to do with the two TE sets not working. It seemed liked he would always change the play and have those guys max protecting when they would go to that personell. Especially when Marty B was here. You would always here Romo yell Martellus Stay and Bennett would stay in to help block.

I think Romo liked having that extra receiver out there especially when Beasley got here.
