What exactly does OBJ bring to the table?

Serious question:

our offense is top in every category since Dak has been back

Lamb Chops has been emerging and I can make a case that OBJ would do nothing for him. He’s already one of the top 10 WRs statistically in the league. Gallup seems to be mending

Noah is a fine WR3 and perhaps if we are lucky Washington may be a serviceable 3 or 4

If they wined and complained about Amaris numbers and his salary, it’s borderline asinine to bring OBJ who would probably demand even more and produce less

this reeks of commercialism and journey sells because most of the guys are settled in and have already produced sales. Obj is just the big name the cowboys just want to add to the name
Jerry Jones personnel player scouting profile...one leg and cheap. See Jaylon Smith, Sean Lee, Bruce Carter, etc.

This is a legit question. A part of me fears OBJ would be another "toy" in the passing game to distract Kellen. Another part recognizes the confidence his pure presence would inject in the offense and the team. Something our mid 90's teams had was a certain swagger suggesting that we KNEW we were the better team and could impose our will, even when we were coming of age. He could dictate coverage and simply up everyone's level.

I swear a lot of yall only watch this team play football.

Odell would be the best route-runner and hands catcher we have on this team.

Also, on that 4th and 3 against the Packers in OT. I want Odell on this team for situation like those.

At this point I’m not sure he brings much at all. Once his visit happens the cowboys have 5 games left in the regular season. When would he even be able to play in a game, and when he can play in games can he even have a major role?

I was really hoping this would have all come together weeks ago. At least then he’s in the cowboys facilities, the medical staff knows where he is physically, he’s learning the playbook, developing report with teammates/coaches, etc.

Not that I’m fully against bringing in OBJ, but I’m losing patience with the process.

Why are people still pretending Noah Brown is a good #3. He has dissappeared after a few good games

because he’s showed capable. if you think i can’t dunk, and then i dunk, the argument is over whether i ever do it again or not. dak doesn’t have the same rapport with him rush has, and gallup and schulz are back.

Insurance is the main reason to bring him on, losing Lamb or Gallup would seriously downgrade this offense's deep threats just like losing T.O. right before the playoffs screwed us against the Giants.

Yea I would do it but only if we can get out of deal after next year without a ton of dead money.

I can't imagine he's getting a multi year deal here. He signed a one year deal last year with the Rams and is coming off an injury. If someone gives him a multi year deal, good luck.

Elite route running, elite quickness, very good speed, and elite hands.

Did you watch the rams last year? They have zero chance of winning that SB if OBJ isnt on the team. OBJ gives us a WR that absolutely knows how to get open, isnt afraid to go over middle.... the question is what can you get him for, how many years and how quickly he will be ready to play.

He is a very talented WR. And can bring an element to help other receivers to get open. They will need to account for him and where he is on the field. Not going to double cover them all. And just who do you double cover?

He can also stretch the field and get down field as we seem to lack that at times.

But can he still stretch the field?
His ypt has been on a steady decline since 2018. Under 7 in 2021.
Anyone got those advanced metrics on OBJ showing his top field speed in 2021?
And then he has a knee operation and hasn't been seen on the field since.
And according to this article isn't lacing it up for any of his interviews. (Big red flag for someone coming off injury).

If can confirm that he is *still* a guy who can stretch the field, then I'd consider him an important addition to the team and worth risking *some* money on.

But absent confirmation, no way, no how.

he’ll soften ‘em up for Pollard;)

seriously though while he’d be an upgrade in talent from what we have now i feel you. Plus if you pay him say 10/yr (which i doubt he’d sign for but let’s be optimistic), you have Gallup at what like 15, then what are you going to do with Lamb? You’ve already overpaid the most overrated player i can recall jacking things up, and then i guess later Pollard because everyone seems to think you can find literally the leader in like great metrics etc in the 4th round but we need a plodding bulldozer with the 4th pick.

Noah Brown is a good special teamer with the ability to be a spot starter/personnel package dependent on offense. He is not a dependable WR3 in a day and age where WR3’s are basically starters.

OBJ is a much more effective player if healthy.

If healthy, if knee fully healed, if in shape, if father time hasn't caught up with him.

Shouldn't be over the hill at 30, but he's been on a downward trend since 2018. YPT pretty mediocre last year. Less than 7.

Brown is up to 8.5 this year. What OBJ last was in 2018.

I'm the guy who has been moaning about our lack of speed at WR since we dumped Cooper.

Years ago, OBJ could have rectified that lack. Now? All evidence points to No.

Jersey sales....his quickness and hands....Cee Dee has too, OBJ ability to "win" on routes is special.
