What exactly does OBJ bring to the table?

He can bring extra pressure for Dak and his already fragile confidence. We don’t need him, he’s a Giant, he’s not a legend like T.O. Why are people drooling over him. I don’t get it.

Did you see him in the superbowl?
Yep. He had fresh legs, because he didn't play the whole year. And he still got hurt. Guy has a surgically repaired ankle and a twice surgically repaired knee. All on his left leg. He's played in 21 games in the last three years. He's done.

Fans want Dallas to take chances, and then when Dallas has an opportunity to take a chance, people don't want Dallas to take a chance. haha

If this franchise is everything some fans say it is, then it won't hurt their playoff chances. Of course, he could add a dynamic to this offense that we are missing. I think he is absolutely worth kicking the tires on.

But can he still stretch the field?
His ypt has been on a steady decline since 2018. Under 7 in 2021.
Anyone got those advanced metrics on OBJ showing his top field speed in 2021?
And then he has a knee operation and hasn't been seen on the field since.
And according to this article isn't lacing it up for any of his interviews. (Big red flag for someone coming off injury).

If can confirm that he is *still* a guy who can stretch the field, then I'd consider him an important addition to the team and worth risking *some* money on.

But absent confirmation, no way, no how.

That is just it, don’t know if he can. But he will go through a workout I would think.
They can see his speed then.

Dak does not have any fragile confidence issues.
SMH at the dislike. He lives in your head rent free.

Serious question:

our offense is top in every category since Dak has been back

Lamb Chops has been emerging and I can make a case that OBJ would do nothing for him. He’s already one of the top 10 WRs statistically in the league. Gallup seems to be mending

Noah is a fine WR3 and perhaps if we are lucky Washington may be a serviceable 3 or 4

If they wined and complained about Amaris numbers and his salary, it’s borderline asinine to bring OBJ who would probably demand even more and produce less

this reeks of commercialism and journey sells because most of the guys are settled in and have already produced sales. Obj is just the big name the cowboys just want to add to the name
The key is if he’s healthy. If he is, then he adds a dynamic WR to the stable. He’s a great route runner, has speed and has excellent separation. Defenses will have to account for him which opens up so many things for the offense not only in the pass game, but also the run game.

First line of the article I linked:
Wait a minute: Odell Beckham Jr.'s visits do not include workouts?

Under the present conditions, it's impossible to tell "exactly" what to expect of OBJ, no matter which team signs him.
I doubt he knows, himself, at this early juncture. I feel he'll be hard pressed to return to action as fit as before.

I never said I disliked Dak. But he definitely doesn’t play to his full potential at a consistent basis. To
Me that indicates either 1. he’s maxed out as a player and this is who he is or 2. He struggles to maintain his peak play because his confidence is shaky.

I always said that about Romo… once he got over the mental hurdles he was much better. Dak is slightly on a better path and not quite as dramatic lows as Romo but nonetheless similar path.

Yep, health's the key. Some on here are pointing to the SB....as if he'll come back to that level even after missing a year. They point out that for the first half of the year, before being traded he was at just 50% reception level. We've even got Gallup as an example of someone who eased back after the same injury (and he knows the scheme).
A 100% fit OBJ is obviously worth it, he's a big game player and at worst his presence will be a distraction in the secondary, but I fear Moore overplaying with his new toy and anything which stops our run (first) game is a no-no. The other obvious issue is guaranteed money after this season.

At this point I’m not sure he brings much at all. Once his visit happens the cowboys have 5 games left in the regular season. When would he even be able to play in a game, and when he can play in games can he even have a major role?

I was really hoping this would have all come together weeks ago. At least then he’s in the cowboys facilities, the medical staff knows where he is physically, he’s learning the playbook, developing report with teammates/coaches, etc.

Not that I’m fully against bringing in OBJ, but I’m losing patience with the process.

Yep, there's a distinct impression that he's stringing this along and that he's only interested in jumping on board for the play-offs and doesnt necessarily want to put in the hard yards in the regular season. it's that or he's waiting on an injury for a different team to enter the market.

Bottom line What OBJ are you getting?
Are you getting the pre-first injury OBJ then heck ya sign him.
Are you getting the pre-second-year injury Yeah I would sign him.
Now two back-to-back ACL injuries and supposedly he is not working out for any team so you don't even know if he will be able to contribute this season. Give him #1 WR money on a player's past play? Wow to me that's not good business that CRAZY. Is he better than Noah or Washington maybe but they aren't being paid # 1 money.
Now if he works out and shows he is close to being able to give us something this year and wants to sign a prove-it deal I'm 100% all in. Most of you have complained about the stupid money that Zeke and Dak or even Jaylon got?

He is a very talented WR. And can bring an element to help other receivers to get open. They will need to account for him and where he is on the field. Not going to double cover them all. And just who do you double cover?

He can also stretch the field and get down field as we seem to lack that at times. This also opens up the run game more.
Stack the box and let receivers one on one, or cover the receivers and they get good runs.
In the running game will definitely help. You’ll have to put a safety on him .that opens up the box.

Terry Glenn bounced back and was great again at an older age.

What does OBJ bring? Yet another athlete that bent Jerry over and gave it to him ( assuming his contract demands are hefty)

honestly I have no faith he’s healthy now next year he might help ya more but this year I don’t see the point

OBJ will bring a pompous attitude to the locker room because he won a SB and will think he is the King of the room.

The team is playing with good chemistry right now and they don't need some prima donna interfering with his child like behavior.
