What exactly is the "Razorback Formation"?

A scheme where we take our best offensive player off the field.

eh? Really? I'm guessing you said that in jest as the Razorback will probably feature Witten, Bennett, Felix, (Roy Williams or Austin) on the field at the same time.

Romo might get yanked for Crayton or Stanback for that play though.

EDIT: Ahh, I see you said "player" instead of players. I suppose that is true, but remember, sometimes the status quo isn't always the best answer.

I agree that Romo is our best offensive weapon.

So Romo would flush out as a WR? Or would he not be on the field?

Same formation, different name.

I refer to it as the "Jerrized Wildcat" Due to Jerry's deep love for the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Yeah, in the "True" wildcat, he'd line up at WR.

That's the problem I have with the formation, too. Putting your QB out there at WR where every DB can tee off on him.

I suspect he would be replaced by Stanback or Crayton when they enter that formation. (ie, someone that can throw the ball and run with it)

I'm totally against using this all the way....Do you think Brady or Manning are coming out? Heck no! To me it's a wasted down for your QB to make a big play.

Just a way for jed to ensure the world that HE"s the face of the Dallas Cowboys. Nothing more, nothing less.

Do people not understand that Felix is an incredible open field runner? The point of the formation is too get Felix out in the open field.

You can do that without taking away the threat of one of the best passers in the NFL.

substitute the word "razorback" for the word "wildcat" in this wiki article.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wildcat_formation

just a part of the whole listing

The wildcat formation, (or wildcat offense) a variation on the single-wing formation, is an offensive American football scheme that has been used at every level of the game including the CFL, NFL, NCAA, NAIA, and many high schools across America. The general scheme can be instituted into many different offensive systems, but the distinguishing factor is a direct snap to the running back and an unbalanced offensive line.

Every DB or LB should tee off on the QB if he splits out as a wide receiver. As soon as the ball is snapped the nearest defender should just hit the snot out of the QB. That should be the first step in defending the "wildcat" formation.

I doubt Romo or any other qb will be worried about a cb.
