What Exactly Makes Dez Bryant a Headcase?

I'd rather the Cowboys pass on Bryant, but one benefit of drafting Bryant:

There would be far fewer MartyB-is-a-headcase threads.

Actually, I'd be quite upset if the Commanders made it 11-5, beating the Eagles thrice in a season while we finished 4-12, despite what moves they made in the off-season.
 We would have done the same if Roy Williams wasn't a Cowboy. The dude is irrelevant as far as the Cowboys are concerned. When he's not sucking up cap space. Which he is every day.

So who would've caught for 700 yards and 7 TDs on this roster? Sam Hurd? Martellus Bennett? Kevin Ogletree? Jesse Holley?

Come on, Bob, you're better than that.

I'm willing to be an impartial/non-armchair defense lawyer on the subject.

You know you have a history of sticking by players (Vick, PacMan) to test your argumentative capabilities.

While I do like to argue that is not why I stick by them. If you knew my past you would understand why I am like that.

Dude, we went 13-3 in 2007 and set all kinds of franchise, offensive records with just TO and Witten and a bunch of scrubs at receiver and RB. And no, Roy Williams didn't help us finally win in the playoffs. He was non-existent in the WC like he's been for much of his career here.

If you want to PM me the details, that would be cool so I can get a better understanding on the why.

So basically we have a guy saying that he knows a guy that says that Bryant was drunk at practive. His mother was a crackhead. Gambling experts say he was poor in interviews.

Its all either hearsay or complete BS.

As for the drunk thing I have two big questions. First of all how is it that the coaching staff didn't know or didn't do anything and how is it that no one else knows.

He really couldn't have been that drunk. I am sure we have all seen people that are wasted before. Its pretty obvious. So was he just having a drink or two before practice or was he coming to practice in the morning after tying one off?

Now I will say something. If it is true that he has a drinking problem then you really don't want to have anything to do with him. Pacman has a drinking problem and if you review all of his incidents he was drinking in all of them. He got into his first altercation at a bar spitting on a girl when he was 21.

Now PacMan is an angry drunk but really if he is drinking to the point where he is doing it at practice I am very very surprised that the only source we are hearing it from is a messaqge board.

Now cover2 don't take me saying that the wrong way. I am not making any personal judgement on you in any way shape or form. I just don't know you and I certainly don't know youre source. It just seems odd.

On a final note I am glad that he lied to the NCAA. He made them millions of dollars putting butts in seats and from TV revenue and they gave him what equates to about $40k a year.

Screw them.
No offense taken. I know I would be hesitant to believe something like that as well that is only being told by someone on an internet forum.

Also I have no idea if Gundy actually knew about it. I didn't exactly get too indepth about it. If he was still able to perform the drills well I doubt he was completely hammered. Who knows maybe my source was wrong. I was just reporting what I heard.

YOu don't know me very well cj but I have been 'reading deep in the cowboys draft stuff' since the Gailey years. I have been reading pretty much every article, podcast, youtube video etc on this message board and its predecessors and competitors.

What I remember was a lot of talk about how it was hypocritical of Parcells to compare Ware to LT when he was his second choice and he was outvoted.

I just tried to look around to see any mention of that and cursorily I found nothing. Not saying its necessarily not true but do you have a link or something?

I will go back through my dallas cowboys news stuff ive saved and see if its there, but trust me its there. I have been studying and doing the draft way before it got to become a fad, way back in 1975, etc...

Alot of people when cowboyszone.com was developed didnt know too many draft sites, etc, i was one of the ones that gave them links etc even way back then.

just like when the cowboys drafted larry allen in 94, before they drafted him, i read about him in some draft sports magazines, calling him a man among boys in one of my favorite college magazines, street and smiths, a man among boys and could run faster than most wrs. I sent that info to the cowboys. I am not saying they drafted him on my say so, but i did send them articles on him.

so trust me, a phone call was made from the cowboys parcells to high school coach, again, dont know what was said, because they didnt go into details on that, but said, parcells changed his mind after talking to the high school coach that said something about merrimann. If you know what i am talking about, always after the draft, they do articles in dallas morning news sports section on cowboys, with interviews etc, was in one of those best i remember. Thats when merrimann got mad, because the cowboys had talked to him and told him they were going to draft him. At least thats what merrimann said;

merrimann promised payback when he played them,

will take me a few days, had sewer back up in house, and have to redo carpet, so i have my stuff out in boxes in garage, but i will get back to you in a few days if its there, have 3 full boxes of cowboys old stuff newspapers etc...
im also working on my warroom, so be patient with me, but will find it if its there;

what you might do though is ask hostile or dcfanatic, im sure they remember it too or even silverbear, they were up on that kind of stuff too

So the next time someone "leaks out" information, you'll just believe it?

I heard the Patriots were considering trading a 4th rounder for Roy Williams...the truth is leaking out.

If Bryant falls to 27 than it's for a reason. No way on earth would Dallas ever get a shot at this guy unless teams are getting bad reports from people who know him.

good point catch, thats what ive been saying all along, i feel that the cowboys felt dez would drop, and now they are interviewing him if he does fall, which i think he will

if he does fall, then like you say other nfl teams are getting reports, interviews too, and you have to check red flags on a player, they are there for a reason, they are not made up, when all nfl teams gets them and the combine gets them too

i just want the best player for the cowboys period, whether that is Iupati, Trent Williams he will fall alittle due to his lack of work ethic, earl thomas, Dez Bryant, Odrick,

whoever, we must hit with this top draft choice big time, trust your scouts and your interviews, and your game tape of the players

this is where most nfl teams that pick players make a mistake, they judge a player soley on his speed time, and not game tape, etc and dont trust your scouts.

like one time, we had a offer in 98 to swap our number one pick for 2 number 2 picks, i think with the patriots, dont quote me on that, but some team, jerry wanted more, we could have had greg ellis and randy moss, enough fire power to get back to the superbowl but jerrys jones ego got in the way

same thing later when a team called to trade for erik williams, jerry wanted a number one, the team offered a number 2, jerry wanted to much for an older player, that was past his prime, yet we could have gotten a high draft choice that could have helped us this yr

like later, scouts stood up on the table and told parcells not to take jacob rogers, but parcells wanted him because he was from new jersey best i remember, we suffered from that because parcells ego wouldnt let him listen to the scouts

you have to stand back as an owner, gm or head coach and listen to your scouts, thats why you hired them in the first place

just like if i was the owner, and i wanted some scouts, i would hire, Hostile, DCFanatic, Bryan Broaddus, BigGems and silverbear, let them be my guide on drafting players, would i have some input in the draft yes, but if they overruled me on a player i wanted to draft, or not, i have to stand back and let them do their job, thats why i hired them in the first place

so, trust our scouts, i do trust ciwoski our head scout, if whover is best player when we pick 27th or whatever, then you take that player, bottom line, but u have to hit on that player

why, like the brady quinn trade we made a few years ago in first round swaps, we have felix jones in that deal now, while cleveland has lost the head coach, and the general manager that made that trade, you have to be accountable and be sure with that first round draft choice, its the life blood of your team, you have to hit
