What food could you not live without?

food: so many to choose but if I had to pick just one it would be chicken

drink: bud ice (honorable mention to rum)

Hot dogs and/or Kraft Mac and Cheese... but for those 2 staples, this ol' Bear would probably weigh about a buck twenty five... LOL...

Now, when it comes to a treat, bring me shellfish until I turn into a crustacean...

You hotdogs choice in this thread reminds me of something.

Have any of you got burnt out on a food for some reason and the just did not eat it for a long time or just once in a blue moon?

At one time it was potato soup when I was young.

In the army after eating some form of chicken for all three meals for a week I did not eat chicken for a couple of years.

I have not had a bowl of beans in years...now it is not that I dislike them as I will eat them in chili and other foods....just got burnt out on them as the wife's family loves them.

And finally HotDogs....it is VERY rare for me to eat hotdogs anymore...I don't dislike them I just got burnt out on then one summer and rarely if ever eat them since.

I can not eat meatloaf to this day because of the Military I get ill just smelling or looking at it.

I was in the field training and they decide to do the stupid sack lunchs (wished I had an MRE instead) well I got my bag 2 dry meatloaf sandwichs with layers of white grease on this soggy arse white bread. They made them early and sat them in the fridge most likely. Well I was so hungry I ate one only one because I started getting ill. That was the longest day for playing war games in my life. I was felt like I was going to :ralph:. I managed to keep it down but that was one of the most miserable days I have ever had.

That was almost 15 years ago and I still can not eat meatloaf

:lmao: I do not care for meatloaf either.

You remind me of a story.

I was a medic and in an ambulance platoon.

We had to go out and cover the tankers when they were on the range doing qualifications.

One day I went to the portapotty and seen what I called Albino excrement (putting it nicely).

About an hour later a tanker came up to me asking if I had anything for upset stomach and the runs.

I said are you the one with the albino extract lol and he said yes.

I asked him what he ate to make him like that.

He told me he got the small boxes of cereal they pass out and then had his little half carton of milk.

When he poured the milk out onto his cereal it was so spoiled it had curds in it.

And instead of getting more cereal and milk or just getting something else the dummy ate it.

Sometimes you just want to smack people :lmao:

I can't stand sour cream. My first job was at a Mexican fast food place and I was the designated prep person. I had to fill 10 or more bottles with sour cream every night with a spatula(sp?). I hated that part of the job.

I don't think I could have done that. I would have had to quit!

Hunger time folks... something we can all relate to. Shout out to food! :D

Just wondering what everyone here digs more than anything? It can be cheap, expensive, common, rare, something that is only cooked a certain way in a specific restaurant, whatever floats your boat.... what food could you not live without? What are you favorite things to dine on?

This pic may gross some of you folks out, but here it goes:

menu-sushi.jpg

I LOVE SUSHI!!!

I discovered it when I lived in Japan and I've been addicted ever since. I have visited every sushi bar in every city I've ever lived in. I grab the stuff at grocery stores, I've eaten it while deep sea fishing, I just love raw fish! It tastes better than being cooked. ~~shrug~~

Props to lobster, steak, ribs, cheeseburgers, baklava, sukiyaki, enchiladas, Ben & Jerry's, snow crab legs, and many more delicious items, but the one item that sticks out in my mind is sushi or sashimi.

I guess great minds think alike.

There is nothing and I mean nothing better than good Sushi if it's prepared right. I've caugt tuna and ate it right on the boat - great stuff.

And the pride the people take in making it is something else ... very cool ...

I was a skeptic before I first tried Sushi, but now I'm hooked just like you, TruBlue. And Damn you for bringing it up ... I'm gonna have to go get me some frickin' Sushi.

Ew girl - I can dig some of that too ...

I'm amazed at some peoples lack of willingness to give other foods a shot ... Caribbean food and plantains are good ... I had some Carribean chicken that was DAMN good.

Cajun food - a good crawfish bisque is always nice ...

Mexican - Taco Bell tops the charts ... JK ... if you live in austin Fonda San Miquel is THE BEST mexican food place IMO ... great place to take a date too.

Indian food is one of my favorite ... Star of India is a nice resteraunt - great buffet.

Thai food is also good ... I usually go to Thai kitchen on the drag and order rice w/ curry tofu ...

Just thought it was interesting that you didn't say Chinese or Hamburgers or Pizza ...

You and I could get along good WG ...

I totally agree. Pardon the pun, but life would be bland without spicy food. Speaking of cajun, crawfish etoufette is another item I forgot to mention. That stuff is heaven!

I love spicy food! I have NEVER found anything too hot for me. I'll admit though, some of that Thai food comes awfully close to the limit. LOL The only dish I ever ate in my travels that I almost couldn't finish because of its spice was a Thai seafood, rice, something dish I had in the Pacific. I throw tobasco sauce on just about anything, I'd probably rate spicy food above sushi, because I could never eat sushi without wasabi.

I put hot oil on anything I have the opportunity to ...

Have you ever bit into one of those red peppers at a Chinese resteraunt or whatever ... I like hot food as much as the next guy, but those are HOT.
