What happened before halftime with the clock?

Nah. This wasnt an end of game scenario where you can freelance because its the last play. This is literally a one read and then you let it fly out the back of the endzone. About a 5% chance of scoring.. is that worth a turnover, flag, or sack? Its more than "trusting the QB".

Hard to honestly say that Reid lets the clock run there with Mahomes. Ludicrous to think that Sirianni doesn't take a shot there with Hurts. For crying out loud, he went for it on 4th and goal from the 3 calling a QB draw. With timeouts, McDaniel surely has a plan to take some shots with Tua. McVay and Stafford wouldn't have a plan to at least put some pressure on the D?

Even the refs assumed that Dallas would call a timeout. The announcers were confused. It had the same *** factor as punting on third down. It is what it is.

I want to know how we got from 44 seconds after the gallup catch to 21 seconds. Wasn't he out of bounds? And if not we had 2 timeouts why didn't we use one? I would rather have a 13 year old madden player than mccarthy with time management.

Ultra conservative mindset in that moment. Close game and he was more afraid of a turnover than in getting the 6.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that? Was he afraid of what the giants had happen to them? We still had a timeout. What a weak move

I think it was a bad decision. Take one shot into the end zone then kick the FG if the play doesn't work. They had time and TOs. But none of that had to transpire had they called time out after the 11 yard catch by Gallup with about 47 seconds left. Gallup catch a pass and was knocked out of bounds so the refs did not stop the clock. The Cowboys snapped the ball for the next play at 28 seconds. So they let about 19 seconds run off the clock. They were at the Chargers 37 yard line. They had 2 time outs. They should have called time out there. Those 19 seconds could have been very useful for the rest of that drive.
Yea they had two timeouts and 46 seconds and somehow managed to take no shots at the end zone

I don't blame Coach Mac with as many times as our season has ended with poor clock management under his watch. LOL

Game might be lost without that FG. Baby steps. We were just pounded like a red-headed step child, let's not think the offense is ready yet.

I Have to believe that it’s MM just seeing things realistically. He doesn’t believe in his teams ability to either not get a penalty or turning the ball over or giving up a big sack that would take them out of FG range.

For all the rah, rah lip service MM says to the press praising his offense and Qb, we finally got a glimpse into how McCarthy REALY feels about his offense.

Yup. People can chest bump all they want about it showing fear. Coach probably just wants to go into the bye week 4-2 and have 2 weeks to work on the offense more. Not a bad move at all. Defense was playing well enough to hold the game in check.

And the fact that we won by 3 bears out his decision.

I just think that’s not how football works. San Diego wants nothing more than for you to surrender there. Their corners were ******** their pants all game. Throw a fade feed ceedee and see what happens.

That was their attempt at an explanation. Weak one at that. Has there ever been that same situation where the clock doesn’t stop because his progress had stopped? The refs blow the whistle to kill the play in that situation and they didn’t end the play. Too many “mistakes” by the refs to be explained away.

NFLN said the clock operator assumed a TO. But none was called. But they stopped the clock anyway.
A video showed MM telling the ref to ... wind the clock ...

MM took the sure points because he knew it was turning into a defensive game. As what was going to really happen as LAC was not going to get the chance to score, and they were getting the ball to start the 2nd half.

It was the right thing to do, especially passing on the FG earlier.

No it was overly conservative. With 8 seconds and a time out you have to run one more play.

If forward progress is stopped the clock keeps going. When these guys go out of bounds they have to be pushing forward or the clock will continue.

His progress was stopped. He went dead sideways.

The Cowboys offense doesn't like the redzone. They prefer to score TD's from the 50 yard line instead of work their way down to the RZ. Says a lot about the QB and the confidence hsi coach has in him.

You have to forget the outcome of the game when evaluating this decision.

It was archaic to forgo a relatively high percentage shot at the TD from within the 10 yd line (wasnt a hail mary sitch or even something where if ur sacked ur out of FG range), knowing u could still kick the FG if you missed it.

If we had lost this game by 3 points, he would be getting CRUCIFIED for that decision. It was just weak.... and he is extremely fortunate thebteam won.....

Do we know why we lost 5 seconds, was it on the refs, on the coach or what??
For some reason he just wanted to take the field goal and not go for the touchdown. He didn't want to risk a turnover and just took the 3 points.

CowboysZone LOYAL Fan
Seemed to me like he didn't trust his QB.
There is no agenda in this comment, is there?

I have to wonder if there was a pick six, because every fan is a wild eyed Cowboy when the play hasn't been run, and is willing to risk anything for seven.

But when the ball goes the other way, guess who is blamed. I do not believe there is enough information to make the comment you made with any accuracy more than speculation or opinion.
