I dont know why everyone expects these 3-4 DE's to be Julius Peppers...

They occupy space.. In Phillips scheme they stunt and slant. But they are supposed to create opportunities for the 3-4 LB's to make plays. They take up space people.. Draw double teams and confuse the lineman.

Everyone just expects them to have 10 sacks a year. Not going to happen. As long as they free Lb's up to make plays, they are doing their job.

Precisely, even the much celebrated Richard Seymour averages about 6 to 5 sacks per season.

Quick, someone name the starting DEs on the 2005 Steeler defense? My thoughts exactly.

Spears can step it up but he's not near as pathetic as those that base progress on stat sheets would like to portray him to be.

here is a reason guys that play end in a 3-4 are 300 lbs. They have to occupy space.

Not everyone can have a freak like Mario Williams who is close to 300 and can run a 4.8.

I saw him take a great angle on Jacque Reeves and cut him off at the point of attack, it was impressive.
