We need to find another CB to play opposite Newman, trade Roy and move Hamlin to SS and get a new FS.

This secondary is a joke and has been all year. Every decent QB Dallas has played this year has passed for a minimum of 250 yards.

Don't sugar coat it Dooms what do you really think?

I did not expect this to be a Super Bowl D this year so I am not as POed as you are at the moment. T-New is our only cover corner. Every body else plays zone and you are right about one thing. It is a very soft zone at that. But we have two firsts and a second pick to play with next year. Green Bay will be another test of what our D can do with a good passer.

This kind of thing is gonna happen from time to time.

What matters is what the other side of the ball does.

And today, our offense was their to pick up our defense and score enough.

In the Buffalo game, our offense had the struggles and our defense kept us in the game.

Sure I want all aspects of our team to be perfect every game but no one is perfect... (don't even mention that other team, they will get theirs when the time comes)

I am now dreading the Green Bay game.

As am I.

I watched the Packers today and they spread defenses to where you pretty much have to be in single coverage...then Favre justs rips them apart. They used 4 and 5 receiver sets today and easily walked down the field to score.

Favre doesn't give defenses enough time to get near him....he has a quick release and still has a huge arm. That slant pass is a big gainer for them.

It will be a shootout....that's for sure.

The problem with this defense is they can't get off the damn field on 3rd down

I really don't get where people are coming up with this line about no pass rush. The Cowboys are pretty high up in the most sacks and pressures in the league (not to mention a forced fumble today and a forced an INT last game). Most teams would love to have a rush like ours. What do some of you want, a sack every down?

Let's see we've played ...

- Trent Green
- Tavaris Jackson
- Rex Grossman
- Trent Edwards
- an injured Marc Bulger
- Jason Campbell

That's three quarterbacks (Edwards, Jackson and Green) who don't know enough to avoid a sack, one quarterback who isn't very mobile because of injury (Bulger), one who's hot and cold (Grossman) and a quarterback in his second year.

It's pretty easy to collect sacks against the quarterbacks we've played so far so those sack stats can be very misleading.

That explains the 3 sacks on Brady then.

this is why any talk about trading away our draft for McFadden is pure nonsense. We have yet to complete this defense. We need another CB and speed at the interior lber position. Our lbers are big, but slow.....which is why they are horrendous on special teams. And we need another WR with speed. Until we get one, we will not be able to line up and run the football.

The Packers game right now is going to be a good one that's for damn sure.
I am confident in our ability to put up around 20-28 points on their D(which btw is very very good), but holding them to 20-28 might be a little difficult, considering the type of game Brady, Manning, and now Campbell have had vs our Secondary.

That's what gets me. We have used just about every top pick the last ten years on defense and still have major issues there.

I will say this for our defense. There is no way we prepared for the passing attack that the Commanders put up yesterday. They have not tried that kind of all out attack all year long pretty much abandoning the run like they did.

I agree with people concerned about out defense. We couldn't get off the field on third and long (very long in some cases) most of the day. It was gut wrenching to see it. even worse thinking about the Packers and the playoffs that are coming up quickly. Only a few weeks to figure out how to stop the defensive bleeding.

If the D gives the O short fields, there's huge lopsided wins by the Cowboys.

Skins were 38% on 3rd downs and Dallas won time of Time of Possession. Mean time Dallas was hitting 61% on 3rd down yet you claim we could not get off the field most of the day?

We don't have a Super Bowl defense... it's that simple.

yeah, that might be it...we have two great players, a few good ones and a few others who arnt doing the job...you also have to wonder why we arnt doing better with the blitzing than we are...I can understand guys who cant cover, but it shouldnt be this hard to have some successful blitzes, especially with the athletic ability we have...

I still think they can be a good defense, but yesterday was really depressing

they hardly punted all day...I dont think we forced a 3 and out either...they ran 70+ offensive plays and had 28 first downs...thats pathetic

they had 5 drives that ended up with scores and 2 with turnovers, and 1 that they had a missed FG on

38% sounds ok, until you look at the big picture...

28 first downs are tough to swallow.

They took advantage of our "bend but don't break" defense. I know Wade doesn't want to give up the long passes, but when a QB is on his game, he can eat us alive. Eli did it in Week 1, Brady did it, and Campbell did it today.

We tightened up on those last 2 drives and it resulted in us winning the game. I don't mind the soft zones, but you have to mix it up if tha'ts not working.
this is pretty much an accurate recap.

if we don't INTERRUPT the passer w/ deflections/pressure/sacks then a hot QB will carve up Wrong-Way-Roy and co.

notice any QB, when they have a spurt of accuracy totally carve us up inside. over and over, any down or circumstance.

without Henry at full strength (and taking every snap) it REALLY exacerbates the problem since Newman blankets the #1 WR, the deep play is cutoff, leaving gaping holes for the TE/FB/slot WR (ie. how we made Welker look like jerry rice in his prime).

plus we were unprepared for 54 passes both emotionally and physically.

absolutely! just look at how exhausted poor ware was after the game.

Also, it seemed like Ellis was nowhere to be found this game.

25 more today, and this was against a team that had no run game to speak of (and had set several records for run game futility this yr) and the pass rush pulled a total MIA job agaist a team that had been getting killed up front

I have zero confidence in this defense again...just like last yr and the several years before that
