All the Roy homers need to point out the big plays that Roy has made the last 2 years VS his first 2 years.

Last year, Roy led all safeties in takeaways.

He has only three this season, but Darren Woodson had a lot of years without many takeaways, too.

He is NOT as GOOD as he WAS. He has SLIPPED.

Roy Homers please give evidence that he has not slipped.

I don't know why you make the distinction of his first 2 years vs. his last 2 years. This is his 6th season. Here's the breakdown from his first 3 against his last 3.

1st 3 seasons

216 tackles
4 sacks
17 Passes Defended
9 INTs
2 TDs

Last 3 Seasons (he has one game left to play this season)

186 tackles
2.5 sacks
21 passes defended
10 INTs
1 TD

An interesting thing to note regarding Roy's stats if you go year by year. The years where the defense is rated higher, he seems to have lower numbers in terms of statistics. 2003 we were the top rated defense in the league, and he had arguably his worst year in terms of stats. This year we're number 8, and he's going to have his 3rd or 4th worst season in number of tackles, depending on whether he gets 4 or more against Washington.

Seems to suggest that he's a beast on bad teams because there's no one else out there making plays. When other guys are making plays, there are less opportunities to do so.

For instance, he had 4 sacks his first two seasons. Last two he has zero. This season Greg Ellis has 12 sacks and DeMarcus Ware has 11. Last season Ware led with 12. '02 and '03, no one had more than Ellis' 8 sacks each season. LaRoi Glover had 6 and 5 respectively. After those two in '02, it was Tony Dixon, Kevin Hardy and Roy Williams with 2 sacks. In '03 Eric Ogbogu had 4 sacks. It's pretty obvious that we have had a better pass rush the past two seasons to anyone with a functioning pair of eyeballs.

Therefore, Roy is being used less in the pass rush. Meaning he plays run support and pass defense. He is STILL the leading tackler on this team by 10 tackles, and he just came off a season where he led the team in INTs.

Oh and today will be the first game he's missed in 6 seasons.

BTW you're the one saying he HAS slipped. You have the burden of proof. Bring it.
