What has become of Drew Henson?

You do realize that last year Henson couldn't catch on with the Dolphins (who - and this is completely true - trotted out Cleo Lemon to start games at the end of the year) last year, and is currently mired at third on the Vikings depth chart, where he spent last year as well? First he couldn't beat out Brad Johnson and Tavaris Jackson - this year he's struggle to make the roster competing with Jackson, Bollinger and some guy named Tyler Thigpen.

I was as big a Henson fan as anyone, while he was here - but it's time to stop living a lie for everyone. He wasn't any good. Changing his delivery, Parcells mind games, none of these are affecting him anymore, and he still can't cut it in the NFL as a starter. We have absolutely no reason to believe, in an open competition, that he could have beaten out Vinny - as easy as that sounds.

Drew Henson isn't here, and isn't long for the NFL. That's Drew Henson's fault. Noone else's.

Tyler Thigpen is actually a decent prospect. I caught quite a few of his games at Coastal Carolina and he is a winner.

If I were betting, I would put money on him beating Henson out handily. Childress will give Henson every opportunity because he likes him personally, but they did invest a draft choice in Thigpen.

This upsets me.

If Bill Parcells wasn't coach I'm pretty sure Henson would have been given a good shot at winning the job. Instead Parcells listened to his buddies and stuck with Testaverde. :bang2:

So he would have won the job were it not for Coach Parcells but yet he spent practically the entire year either unemployed or languishing on a practice squad.

Why is it that even when players are fringe-dwellers elsewhere (or out of football completely) that some doubt that Coach Parcells knew what he was doing when he released them? Apparently, he must be blackballing these great talents league-wide because I don't see many of these players doing much elsewhere.

Now, Henson is in a place where he's not expected to save the franchise (give it a half-season). If memory serves correct, Vikings' head coach Brad Childress' wife used to babysit Henson when he was a kid.

He loves the organization, and there's no reason he can't challenge Brooks Bollinger for the No. 2 role behind Jackson.

Minnesota has to have the worst set of quarterbacks of any team in the league!

With their situation, I expect Henson to get some PT before the season is over.

What have Joe Torre and Bill Parcells ever done to show they know anything about coaching professional athletes?

Hopefully Drew Henson, Rashard Lee and Stephen Peterman are never reunited to form an All Star cast of players who were never allowed to reach their awesome potential with the Cowboys due to Parcells' personal hatred towards them. Under an open minded coach who just let's these players play up to their amazing ability with no bias, an offense built around that fearsome threesome could easily win two to three games a year. And by "games", I mean preseason games.

Who cares what happen to Drew Henroid?

Didn't care when he was here after that debacle on Thanksgiving, certainly don't care now that he's gone.

Good ridance.

Thanks. I'm the person who got that tip and shared it with Cowboys nation, and that did happen.

:laugh2:

I was just trying to see your reaction, sorry

I liked Henson, but he couldn't cut it here. Thankfully, Romo could, and has shown a lot of promise.

What I don't like is this notion that BP took some baseball manager's opinion about a player, and used it to develop some preconceived notion about the player in a way that may and really could have affected his actions towards that player.

There is no correlation between success in one sport and success in another.

The guy was ultimately a failure in Dallas and just like Quincy Carter fanatics, some Henson fans will never admit it.

It should also be noted that it really never mattered who attended his Personal Workout and whether it was a Jerry and/or Bill decision, because at the end of the day, the player has to eventually earn his way onto the field and prove he can play at a Professional Level.

The guy had to beat out Vinny, Bledsoe and an UDFA, of which, 2 of those guys were eventually going to retire and he still couldn't do it. Next!

I was the biggest Drew Henson fanatic. Anyone who says otherwise has forgotten. Pedigree is my catch phrase and my adoption of him as our potential future franchise caliber QB pissed off everyone who hated my views on QBs.

He was a failure in Dallas. I do not blame Parcells. I blame him. He had a lot of potential and he failed to live up to it. There was no conspiracy to get rid of him. I do not cling to his memory. I joke about my obsession with pedigree and franchise QBs.

My obsession has been nowhere near the megalomania of the fans of the other guy you mentioned. Nowhere near.

Do you use a different tool depending on which type of underwear you are wearing?
