i like the "aikman like game" explanation and thats no surpise with garrets norv backround. they just had better come out of the bye firing (and scoring while doing so)

33 of 39 should get you 400 yds and 4 tds.
we could not run the ball untill the Vik D was totally gassed.
We came WAY too close to losing this game when we should have won by 20.

Nobody runs on the Vikes. Too many fluke plays though. The passing game should have produced 3 or 4 TDs.

There's absolutely nothing abnormal about those numbers. They're actually quite good.

With 277 yards on 39 attempts, Romo was averaging 7.1 yards per attempt. Only 9 current starters can boast a better average per attempt on the season. For the record, Romo is average 8.9 yards on the season, behing only Tom Brady.

Also, the Vikings boasted the second best run defense in the league entering this weekend. They were surrendering under 70 yards per game, and Dallas ran for over 100.

Actually, it was 31 of 39. Romo threw number of relatively short passes but they were efficient and moved the chains. We could have won by a bigger margin but offense made some mistakes, overall, the team achieved their goal, which is win the game.

They took the long and intermediate passing game and gave us underneath. They dared Romo to be able to sustain long drives. And no one is going to run the ball down their throats esp without establishing the pass.

We did self destruct some. It's not easy to march 99 yds on a pretty good defense despite the fact the Pats do it with seeming ease.

They counted on us making mistakes.

We are young. One of the youngest teams in the league. Despite that and a QB who was starting his 17th game we put up big numbers, dominated the TOP, and finally won the game taking what was given and overcoming some early mistakes.

I think some of you are way too hard and are missing the overall picture. We are 6-1. We do have one of the best offenses in the league. We still are in position to score the most points by a Dallas Cowboys team. Ever. You can't achieve what we have without a pretty good OL, playcalling, good no great QB play.

Yeah, we need to cut down on mistakes IF we want to be one of the best teams in the league. And if we want to win our division which appears to be one of the best in the league.

We are almost shoe ins for the playoffs. We will lose at least two more games. Maybe five. That's still 10-6 or better. Yeah we want better. I do. But stop it with the average or worse teams. We are standing pretty tall. Enjoy it.

It really is nice to think we can go 4-5 from here on out and still be 10-6 and make the playoffs.

We did get more passes to the backs- but I think the mixture needs to be adjusted. And we HAVE to be able to run the ball better - right now we only do it well when the D is tired.

The Vikes have by far the best run D in the NFL. Period. Their front 7 is amazing. I am actually very happy with how they ran the ball. You take what they give. No one runs well against them and they took away the deep routes. The Cowboys moved the ball at will in the first half. They just had two costly turnovers. This is the NFL. Be happy with a 10 point win. If the Vikes had a real QB and more/better receivers the Cowboys may have lost. But if the Vikes had those players they would also be in contention for the best team in the NFC.

Don't forget Folk missed his first FG -- but it was a 50 yarder.

No fumbles by the offense, and we likely would have hung 50 on 'em!

I see some points made in this thread by the "don't worry" group. After the first Minnesota drive, our defense adjusted and played an excellent game. We had turnovers derail drives but we moved the ball well frequently. We won the game.

However, the "we should be worried" group makes a few points as well. The "dink and dunk" style seems difficult to sustain for this team. Our stats look good but the points aren't there. Our receivers, outside of TO and Witten, do not induce fear in the opposition. Our receiving teams do not buy us much in field position. Buffalo handed the rest of the NFL a blueprint on how to handle the Cowboy attack and, so far, it works.

I have stated before my lack of confidence we are ever going to see a healthy Terry Glenn again. I wish Stanback would improve enough for us to see him. I am hopeful we will see a "close to healthy" secondary after the bye. Hopefully that will be enough. We'll see.

Technicaly, those points aren't there due to the fumbles. On both fumbles, we were moving the ball pretty well.

I kinda laugh at these threads talking about how bad our offense is. Look at these numbers from a short 5 years ago.
19-10 L
21-13 W
44-13 L
13-10 W
21-17 L
14-13 W
9-6 L
17-14 L
9-7 L
20-3 L
21-19 W

That's right the first 11 games of the season and we didn't put 24 points on the board in any of the games. That's our lowest scoring output this year and we get 400 yards in the game. Our points are going to come. It's the defense that gives me any concern.

Perhaps I'm miscalculating, but Dallas isn't "dinking and dunking" as much as some seem to think. Romo was still averaging over 7 yards per completion today--a healthy number.

The initiator of thread was clamoring that 39 attempts should lead to 400 yards passing, but such numbers would require a per attempt average of over 10 yards, which is very rare.

The reason that long sustained drives are hard for us to sustain is that we shoot ourselves in the foot too often. When teams started taking away the deep stuff, we had to play disciplined football and we're having a tough time with it at the moment. Hopefully we'll work on it over the bye and come back strong.

yes, teams are taking away the deep passes, but we are still having success passing, it's a long cry from the days teams went zone against Quincy Carter, to take away the deep pass, and he went from average to very bad

I remind you folks that the Pats won 3 Super Bowls w/ Tom Brady dinking and dunking, they didn't need a deep passing game to win, they relied on an efficient one that consistently moved the football, they also didn't have much of a running game

they had a great D, and while our's isn't on that level, I don't see us winning a Super Bowl this year either

a deep passing game is nice, but having an efficient one is just as good
