what has happened to our offense?

Exactly.

If he had the same mindset at he did vs Buffalo he would have ended up 25 out of 39 with 325 yards, 1 TD and 3 picks.

:hammer:

I thought this was a well-managed game by Romo. It was an "Aikman-like" game. The Cowboys came out throwing the football in the 1st half and then let the running game take over in the 2nd half. It was vintage "1992 Cowboys"-- it wasn't like the earlier games the offense played this season.

Agreed again. Romo basically "drove the bus" today. Driving the bus or being a bus driver is not a bad thing (some people think it's bad cuz they associate it with QC).

You can be a "Bus driver" and put up HUGE numbers at the same time. IMO, most of the time Tom Brady is a "Bus Driver". You don't see him trying to win the game with one pass very often, he just dinks it and dunks it and lets his WRs move the ball.

I'm sure some people will take that the wrong way or have zero understanding of a "Bus driver" and bash me for that, but oh well.

Your memory is shotty.

The Cowboys of the early 90's were very aggressive in the first half with the pass and then the 2nd half was Emmitt time.

I don't think memory has anything to do with it. He'd have to of known at some time in his life how our offense worked back then in the first place. I'm sure all he did was see a TD and go "Yay" not really taking the time to understand the scheme.

That said, no one can say we didn't run the ball effectively in the first half.

We didn't ATTEMPT to establish a running game in the first half. And the few runs we did have we got solid yardage, VERY solid considering it was against the #2 run D in the NFL.

Speaking of "Establish the run" do you people understand what that means? That doesn't mean you're gonna come out every game and have the running game be fully effective from the get-go. You have to "Work" to get it going. It's like in basketball, you don't usually just pop it down in the post everytime and have the Center score right away every time, sometimes you have to swing the ball around the perimeter before you drop it down in the post. Same concept, basically.

Last I checked, we won by 10.

Guess some people have to complain about something.

You knew it was coming, and if you've hung out in here long enough, you could even predict the usual suspects who would be starting those threads...

Our running game sucks, even though the Boys rank 10th in the NFL in rushing offense, 5th in yards per carry, tied for 2nd in rushing TDs...

Our secondary is a sieve, even though the Boys rank 16th in pass defense, tied for 8th in passing yards per play allowed, 5th in completelio percentage allowed, tied for first in interceptions, and 8th in sacks...

I don't know about you guys, but when I read "sucks", I think of a team rated in the bottom five in the league in a given stat... the worst the Boys rank in any of the stats cited above is middle of the pack, which is not "sucks"...

Basically, I can see only two ways you can beat the Dallas Cowboys this year-- 1) a VERY good pass offense can put up good numbers on them, the way the Pats or Giants did, or 2) they shoot themselves in the foot, a la the 6 turnovers they had against Buffalo... as we have seen in the Giants and Bills games, even getting one of those two done is not a guarantee of beating Dallas, but if you do manage to pull one of them off, you've got a shot...

Well, I look at the remaining schedule, and I don't see that many VERY good pass offenses left on the schedule... my biggest worry in that department is the rematch with the Giants up in the Meadowlands; I happen to think that Noo Yawk will be our strongest competition for the NFC East title, and that they have the kind of passing attack that can force us to outscore them in a shootout...

So let's take next week off, get Tank Johnson up to speed, get Anthony Henry back out on the field, perhaps even get Terry Glenn ready to take some limited snaps, and let's see what happens... let's start by getting the W in Philly in 2 weeks, a team that is struggling mightily these days... get to 7-1 at the midway point of the season, and I certainly like our chances of not only winning the NFC East, but also of securing home field advantage throughout the playoffs... that should be our priority right now, not just getting into the playoffs, but putting up the best record in the NFC, thus ensuring not only a first round bye, but that any playoff games short of the Super Bowl will be played in Texas Stadium...

It is, I think, an attainable goal-- so long as that nasty ol' injury bug doesn't rear its ugly head...

No way do I think we ran the ball EFFECTIVELY in the first half. If you think so, then your idea of what that means is a pretty low bar.

If you guys think this was a good game for us then you are smoking crack.

I think it was a solid win, one in which we dominated the stats sheet... I think we shut down the Vikings offense, holding them to less than 200 yards total, and I think we were VERY effective on offense ourselves... we even put up good rushing numbers on a very good run defense...

So yeah, other than some Murphy's Law moments, I thought this was a good game for us... and persevering in the face of those Murphy's Law moments makes me feel even better about it...

So excuse me if I don't join in on the chorus as you sing "Gloom, Despair and Agony on Me"...

Do you have a reading comprehension disorder?

Where did I say we ran the ball effectively? I said we didn't have enough carries to say we ran it INeffectively.

But the carries we did have were NOT BAD. We certainly weren't being dominated on the very few runs we called in the first half.

Face it, Burm, you just don't know diddly about football.

Face it rack, you know diddly period.

We got like 40 yds rushing in the first half. Maybe less. THAT IS NOT EFFECTIVE.

2 big turnovers is what happened to the offense. Take away those 2 turnovers and the offense scores 30 instead of 17. This team needs to start playing with more discipline if they are going to have any success in the post season.

33 of 39 should get you 400 yds and 4 tds.
we could not run the ball untill the Vik D was totally gassed.
We came WAY too close to losing this game when we should have won by 20.

Not concerned with the offense. We did not play a great game scoring wise but I have no concerns with this offense
