JFK..there was 2 shooters

9/11...Think in both cases...our gov't was involved.

The day the gov't shutdown all the on-line poker sites...and what happened to all the money. Millions of people lost money.

The truth about the bank bail outs...and what happened to 770 billion dollars the banks were supposed to loan out...but never did.

Not 770 billion. Almost 3 trillion. It's sitting there, and the banks receive the interest off of it.

The first Thanksgiving

The Salem witch trials

Intriguing periods in history. A very different way of life. No football, no internet forums? lol

Also have this fascination with Victorian London.

.. and medieval times.

Just the bleak daily lives of those eras?

We're very lucky people today to have so many different avenues of entertainment. and the technogical advances and cars. lol

I don't know how to describe it other than to call it:
"Ancient civilizations that pre-date/contradict what History Scholars (especially Egyptologist) have written in stone ."
- Until a few decades ago, Egyptologist cornered the market that their Ancient Egyptian Civilization (~3000 BC) was the "First" and that before that, humans were just Hunter/Gatherers.They also attacked vehemently any notion that a civilization pre-dates theirs or that even the Sphinx wasn't built by the Egyptians.
- According to them, the Sphinx was built during that era. But guys like John Anthony West, blew that out of the water (pun intended) by bringing attention to all of the water erosion of the Sphinx (there wasn't rain like that in Egypt for a looooong time before 3000BC). Also, the head of the Sphinx is not the original and definitely carved down (just look how small it is in reference to the body). It is believed now that it was actually....ready for it...the head of a Friggin Lion! No WAY!

- Gobekli Tepe, I believe, is still considered to be the oldest man-made structure found and was buried (intentionally) at 8,000BC. This...pisses off the old school scholars. They've been trying to find way to downplay this archaeological finding by stating that it wasn't built by a civilization, but by hunter/gatherers. BS. And every year, there is more and more of it being dug up (it's a huge site and they've only dug up like 10% of it).

Also very intriguing. Hoping to make a trip to Machu Picchu one of these days.

I hope saying this is not a violation of the rules. I am sorry if it is. Reagan's Presidency. To this day his presidency still fascinates. Particularly his popularity and the ending of the Cold War.

And speaking of luck, and I was, one of my buds growing up had a father that was a bona fide war hero. Credited with saving over 50 men on 2 separate occasions and like most vets, he didn't talk about it but his wife did one afternoon when I was around 16.

I had been pulled over for speeding, 65 in a 35, and his Dad, Harold, went ballistic when he found out his son have been riding shotgun and laid into me, verbally, like I'd never been by anyone in my life. I was really upset because I liked him a lot and was really hurt by his words like careless, stupid, irresponsible just to name a few but he was right, I was responsible for another's life in that car.

She saw I was upset and had my bud come get me to come talk to her. That's when she told us Harold's story because my bud was made at his Dad for treating me that way.

Harold landed on Omaha beach and as he was exiting the landing craft, the guy on each side of him got shot right in the head. While on the beach, the guy next to him was shot at least a dozen times and he had not a scratch. He lost every friend he had except his best one who lost the lower half of both legs.

He kept asking himself why, why not me? Why were all these guys getting shot around him but not him? He gave up on luck, no one is that lucky and he settled on a religious answer, God was saving him for something. That's why he charged a machine gun nest single-handedly and a tank and blew it up, this was his purpose. He was awarded every medal a living soldier could get except the Purple Heart, he never got a scratch Luck? Divine intervention? I don't know but I never forgot that talk with her or put his son in harm's way again.

The concept of luck has always mystified and puzzled me. It plays into the outcome of so many things in life.
Turn it around. Odds are, someone is going to make it through unscathed. He was simply that one.
