What I did notice is this team doesn't give up

You look at the eagles and laying down against the bucs.

We lost 7 straight, and could've easily quit. It would've been easy to do. Losing 7 straight is horrendous. For us though, Every game except the Pats was hard fought. Missing 1 and in half the games 2 of your biggest pieces was simply the difference in all of them games.

The locker room didn't give up on garrett for as much as we like to dog him. You have to admire and give him credit for that. at least.

The team new Romo would be back, there is that.

It says a lot. I think execution as well as coaching was the reason for the 7 game losing streak. But they fought. If they could've got some 4th quarter turnovers or sacks in those 7 games we might take some of those games. You guys can say what you will about Garrett but how many times have these guys laid down for Garrett and just get beat into oblivion?

Correct. The team was in every game (even the Pats game until the defense wore out in the second half). The team plays hard, and smart and is never intimidated in hostile stadiums.

A very good, solid team who had no answer for losing Romo. It is a shame and I hope they learned something... but the team has been making all the right moves since about 2010.

They handle adversity as well as any team and fight tooth and nail until the whistle blows. Record aside, the team has been thisclose to winning several.

Tony makes a huge difference, to state the obvious, and with him and most of the team finally getting healthy... they are going to be a tough game for anyone. They might not win the rest and they likely will miss the playoffs, but there is an awful lot to like about the team when Romo is at QB. The time of possession and third down conversion rate is night and day with Romo there. Those two things alone make the running game much more effective and makes the defense a different beast althogether.

With the offense holding the ball longer, there are more opportunities to run the ball. With the offense holding the ball and he run game being effective, it makes the opposing defense become fatigued much sooner. The tired defense can't stop the run and bring up guys to help and then Romo goes over the top.

Then the defense if fresher and playing with a lead and games fall entirely different than they have been in the 7 game lose streak.

Probably won't win them all... but it is going to be interesting.

I honestly feel like if Cassel had a training camp here he would've had more success. I'm not sure how realistic it was to expect for him to come in the season and just come in and contribute off the back.

it would have helped for sure and likely resulted in at least a couple of more wins.

^^^ This. Cassel showed some promise and made some plays, but made mistakes at bad times and also wasn't able to rally when we needed him to. I believe he could have been better if he had had training camp and the preseason, and even those practices early in the season when Romo was still starting. It's looking like the biggest offseason error was not upgrading at backup quarterback. I don't remember if it was on this board or the other one that I frequent, but many of us were wondering why the team didn't go out to get a backup after Weeden had looked so awful in last year's Cards game. The team was saying Weeden was the most improved player. Didn't look so hot to me.

Woo hoo.. Moral victory, the team went 0-7 but didn't give up on Garrett, though they knew Romo was coming back..

Two years ago, the Cowboys got wrecked by the Bears and Saints, shattering all sorts of records in futility with their defense in particular.. Garrett was the coach..

So the Eagles gave up on Kelly, but ended up beating the Cowboys two weeks ago? So a team that gave up, beat the Cowboys?

Whatever fits your agenda...

BTW, in the season the Cowboys allegedly gave up on Wade, the five out of the seven loses, when Garrett's offense kept turning the ball over, their average margin of defeat was less than six points, never getting blown out. The maximum amount of points they lost by was 7 pts.

Their two blow-put losses when the team allegedly gave up on Wade, the offense turned the ball over EIGHT TIMES. And the game prior to that, in the Giants game, the defense generated 5 TOs, but Garrett's offense got a whopping 250 yards.

So yeah, the team have up, but it wasn't on Wade.

And look at the run statistics when Romo went down that year by yardage, as opposed to passing. 4 out of the 8 games, they didn't break even close to 200 yards passing.

It's the same exact formula this year, that Dallas tried in 2010 when Garrett took over. And the defense during that stretch, got 20 TOs in an eight game stretch. So during this years 0-7, Garrett and Jerry were trying to rely on the defense to produce TOs to win, just like he did in 2010.

And it failed miserably. The guy is a flop at coaching...

I give him credit for that but I don't take it as some moral victory.

A team that gives up and loses gets the same result as a team that doesn't give up and loses.

What I want is a team that is put in the most optimal position to win and Garrett does not do that.

That needed to be put in bold.

True for as much as the D got criticized for some games in the seven game losing streak, they kept us in the games. Unlike the Eagles D which just gave Winston 5 TD's. It says something about how good this team can be healthy if they can stay in games while injured

He's a veteran. He has more experience than Jameis Winston and Marcus Mariota COMBINED. He should have been able to win us at least ONE game, especially with this defense. He failed. MISERABLY!

Give Garrett credit for being a slick politician. He's got the media and many fans believing it is some rare NFL feat of extraordinary coaching that a football team doesn't just take off their helmets and walk off the field in the 3rd quarter.

That's been the staple of this team's culture since Jason Garrett took over as head coach.

You're high. Even with horrific backup quarterback play we were still within one score of our losses. That's good coaching to keep a team playing hard - especially this defense - in the face of adversity to keep games close.

What does this even mean? Winston and Mariota had training camps? Cassel had to learn on the fly. Developed no chemistry with no one on the team and played decent enough to even win some games. The defense got no stops in the 4th quarter.
