This is my idea:

Sign Asante Samuels or get a solid corner in the draft.

Move Hamlin to strong safety, I think he is big enough and enough of a presence to fill that role.

Move Henry to Free Safety. The guy is a ball hawk and I think he would play that center field role great.

Any comments or thoughts?

For the 50 millionth time, ROY IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE DUE TO HIS CONTRACT.

When you give a player an $11 million signing bonus, he is going to be on the team A LONG TIME.

Financially speaking, it will be another 2 seasons before cutting or trading Roy would even be feasable. So it does not matter what you want to see next year, nor does it matter what I want to see next year, the fact is Roy is going to be on this team for at least the next 2 seasons and the sooner posters start accepting that the better.

I would like for us to draft Antoine Cason from the University of Arizona with Cleveland's pick. I would like for him to be our Nickel and 3rd CB, as well as our regular Punt Return man. No offense to Jacques Reeves, but I am much more comfortable with him as the 4th CB. He has played above my expectations this year for a guy who was targeted often.

I'd like for Newman and Henry to be healthy for all 16 games because last week we finally got a glimpse of how aggressive this Defense can be with them starting.

I would like to see us re-sign Ken Hamlin. No doubt he was valuable to this Defense all year. Reminds me a bit of when we got Thomas Everett in Free Agency from the Steelers. Great acquisition.

I would like to see Roy Williams in run support and on blitzes more next year. yes, I want him back. No offense to his detractors, but I just don't see any better solutions for this team at Strong Safety. Every time we ask for examples of better Safeties there are just as many positives for Roy as there are negatives. I would very much like for our fans to realize no player is perfect and to stop expecting perfection or gauging him against his rookie year. Offenses adjusted to lessen those results. They usually do. That's how this game is played.

I'd like to see Pat Watkins continue to develop. At times he has really impressed me this year. Especially on Special Teams.

I'd like to see the pass rush become what I crave so all of these guys have the help they deserve. That's right...deserve. For years now they've had to cover dangerous WRs and TEs for 5 seconds or longer. I would like to see that be 3 seconds or less a lot more.

I'd like this secondary to be as successful as Thurman's Thieves were at swiping the ball. The potential is there if the pass rush comes through.

Well, I'm not in for bashing Roy here. Most here know what I think of Roy and so I don't really think it needs to be rehashed. Here's the thing thou. IMO, we really need another capable CB. I don't believe that moving Henry is the answer, simply because then were back with only two good CBs. I believe that Henry is a good CB, especially against bigger, more physical WRs. In this league, you have to be able to match up with the Big WRs that are on every team. We see more and more 3 and 4 WR sets now. You have to have three Corners with skills good enough to be starters IMO. Either draft or FA, we need to find another capable CB.

I'd also like to see Watkins continue to improve. Right now, IMO, he is the best FS we have, even with his lack of experience. I can see him improving and actually challenging for a starting job next year. That forces Roy, IMO, to improve on his game. I'm all for resigning Hamlin. I think he's played an excellent safety for us this year. If you move him to SS, then all of a sudden you have 4 DBs who can cover the pass well on the field at all times. Roy has to step up or step aside in that situation. It pains me to think that we would pay a guy all that money to be a situational player but hey, not all deals work out the way you want them to. To me, Hamlin is a guy who can be that very necessary player in the defensive backfield who makes sure all the trains are running on time. We haven't had that guy for a long time now. Probably not since Woody left. To me, Hamlin can be that guy. After 6 years in the league, it's pretty clear to me that Roy is just not that guy. It's just not a part of who he is it seems.

In this game, you step up or you step aside. That's how I remember it being from my earliest days playing and I'd imagine it's that way, and will always be that way, no matter what level you reach. If we want to be a truely dominating team, we can't have liabilities on the field. You can get beaten on any given play but it can't be a situation in which every team in the league knows and exploites a commen weakness in our defense. You gotta get better or make room for somebody else who is IMO.
