What if Collins beats out Leary and Green beats out Free? How great would that be?

Probably not going to happen but, damn, if it did what an o-line that would be. 5 offensive lineman, all young and getting better throughout the season. I would be ecstatic.

I see one not both, Green is still kind of raw due to missing so much time with injuries. I am on the fence with Green also, I question his heart, one injury he could have played through, while uncomfortable a torn labrum is something you can play through. I did a lot of overhead work with a torn labrum for 10 years.

I don't think either situation would be that great. IMO, it must've meant Leary and Free must've fell off.

I also don't want to lose focus on Gibson. He's a big guy who played LT in college and is outstanding in run protection, a really underrated prospect. I remember an analyst over at bleacher report saying a few scouts said this guy was a top 10 tackle prospect to them.

I think we got two really good tackle prospects in the draft. One of them will emerge.

Barring injuries to both Leary and Free, we won't be seeing two rookies taking over spots on the OL this year. One would be the most to expect with any level of likelihood whatsoever. Two is simply one too many with that extent of inexperience. No practical thinking pro football staff would be likely to welcome that degree of risk.

I can see Collins beating out Leary, as Leary did only sign a one year deal. If Green comes along decently. And Gibson looks very good also. Is it possible Leary can be traded. I think Green will need a year, then replace Free next year. If Gibson needs time, and is a PS guy, then Leary will be here for this year.

What if Leary is packaged with another player or 2, and a conditional pick next year for, oh, maybe a RB playing North of here, near the Canadian border......

I think most people are underestimating Leary. He played much better than most people think although he might have faded a bit towards the end of the season.

I would trade Randle, Leary, Hanna, and our next years 1st round pick for AP.

If Minnesota said no to that, they are being straight up spiteful.

Lol. No way I'd do that trade for AP.

That is because with all due respect you are short sighted.

We have a slew of running backs on the roster. If we got AP, Randle would be worthless to us. Hanna is on the last year of his contract and there is no way we're going to be able to sign him, someone will want him to start for them. Leary is in a similar situation. Really all you're doing is trading the pick and players you don't need or can't keep anyways.

You want to give up a first for a 30 year old running back and I'm short sighted?:lmao2: Lmao.

Do I want to give up a 1st, which would probably be the 32nd pick in the draft for a hall of fame running back to rent him for 3 or 4 years? Absolutely.

You're overvaluing draft picks.

The best part of a 1st round draft pick is the POTENTIAL to get a pro bowl caliber player for cheap. That being said you still usually have to wait at least a year or two before they really develop, and then after their 4th year you have to start paying them a veteran salary, and that's again assuming they work out in the first place.

Assume for a second that WITH AP, we're at least as good as we are last year and draft after 27th

Here are all the Cowboys drafted in the first round after 20 in the last 10 years

Travis Frederick
Dez Bryant*
Felix Jones
Mike Jenkins
Anthony Spencer

Outside of Dez who was a huge fluke, there isn't a player on the list who I would trade for AP straight up even if it meant only keeping him for 3 or 4 years. Again, he is a hall of fame player.

Like your thinking but Fredrick was a second rd pick and you got to keep the first rd pick.

I am not going to miss Frees holding penalties ONE bit if he is pushed out.

Free only had 4 penalties all year although he missed some games. It's his hurries that are troubling although seldom are those exact reflecting reality.

Free is a very good right tackle. He will not be easy to beat out. Green and Collins have their work cut out for them if either can win a starting job outright.
