It's stunning how many people think Deuce can't play based on getting garbage time carries against completely stacked boxes.

I'm a McCarthy fan, but one negative on his ledger is keeping Deuce inactive most of the year.
This is the question I have for all of these guys who have settled opinions one way or another right now about Deuce. There is NO possible way to have an accurate opinion of him from what we’ve seen. He’s hardly has any PT with the starters. And when he has, it’s been in garbage time vs 8-9 guys in the box.

Valid points.

As for me, didn’t like the selection of him coming out of college based on what MM stated he wanted his running game to be. Don’t see the fit and don’t care for what I believe are gadget type special plays type players.

If he’s more than that, I’m wrong and I’ll gladly eat crow. And yes, saw plenty of his college tape and not basing my opinion on his diminutive stature - but I’m still going to make fun of it.

You ask - honest response.

Ummm.......Yeah Detroit has an above average defense and our O-line has seen better days/ seasons. Combine that with the vanilla offense that will occur during the game when nothing is working, IE: No run game, Dak getting sacked, trusting WR's and Te's that will make plays (other than CD, Ferguson, Tolbert and Cook), Ref's going blind IMO. So all of that being said, I would be shocked and surprised if mini me makes any kind of positive difference in the outcome of this game.

What if the Cowboys actually give this guy a legit opportunity and he runs wild tonight..

It would not surprise me in the least either.

If Dallas gives him a decent workload he may be all we are talking about after this game tonight.
Deuce main skill set is YAC, why this has not been utilized until week 17 is odd.
DV does not need to run between the tackles, DV just needed to be introduced into some plays where the ball is in his hands, just get the ball in his hands.
We have gone through an entire regular season and never even took a look, never tried to establish some chemistry and timing in the screen game.
This is perplexing to me, but lets throw DV out there week 17 and see if it magically all comes together.
There is a lot involved for success in the screen game, its perfect timing on not only the QB, OL, and MM making the right call when to run it.
Why this staff waited so long to try and utilize DVs obvious skillset is a little late IMHO.

I guess too many people here didn’t watch Deuce in college.

He was a legitimate RB with elite side to side ability to make people miss. He hits his top gear instantly and has the speed to run away from guys in the open field.

People are acting like those traits have suddenly disappeared now that he’s in the NFL.

I hope this truly is the Deuce getting loose. That would be a surprise along with Turpin.

It’s because he can’t do anything on special teams besides return, we carry a fullback who can also be a runner, and he shares the same skill set as Pollard.

It’s mostly about special teams.

He will show out and provide a spark if they give him a chance. He’s just one of those guys.

Don’t believe me? Then just sit back and watch tonight if he gets a chance.

He has not shown the vision or burst that was expected. Now it may be due to limited opportunities, but he was extremely underwhelming to me.

Forget Duece. If he gets more than 5 touches, we lose.

I'm more concerned with Gibbs. He's the type of back that can rip our defense apart.

Deuce is a between the tackles runner first and foremost.

Of course he needs blocking but once he gets to the 2nd and 3rd level he can do a lot with not a lot.

That’s kinda what the Cowboys need right now.
He’s too small to run between the tackles, which is why he’s averaging only 1.8 a carry on 21 carries. A lot of those carries were between the tackles.

He has the low average because he played mop duty without blocking. He very well could have a high average in the game tonight.

Exactly! He needs work just like any other back. He was scary good in preseason, all he needs is the ball in space. And for anyone saying he played against 3rd stringers in preseason, remember he also had 3rd stringers blocking for him.
