What if the Cowboys actually give this guy a legit opportunity and he runs wild tonight..

It would not surprise me in the least either.

If Dallas gives him a decent workload he may be all we are talking about after this game tonight.
It wouldn't surprise be either if he has a good game tonight.

Because we went into the season w/ Polly as the primary. The primary absolutely must be able to run inside. Polly is not very good at it. Very bad personnel mgmt.

Every time I think Jerry might be getting a bit better, he does something really stupid like this. Did he really buy into all those Polly fans screaming that he was good at running inside? I mean, it was blatantly obvious that he was not, and is not a chain moving type RB. They're going to ruin him if they keep using him like this, especially if he's overpaid.
Good point.....some don't understand you can't expect RBs to feast on outside running at a consistent pace.....NFL defenders can get side-to-side rather quickly.

He has the low average because he played mop duty without blocking. He very well could have a high average in the game tonight.
I wouldn’t bet on it Detroit is 4th against the run.

Once again laughing at all the "get him in open space" comments. Every RB in the game would like that. WR's too!

If he can only succeed with "open space", then his game will be fatally limited. There's no doubt he can rip off a long one. He's quick. It's everything else that's the problem- breaking tackles, blocking, moving the pile, etc.... There's a lot more to being a RB than running in open space. Half the playbook goes out the window when he steps on the field.

Not unrealistic to say he might have a good game. Hasn't he only played a few snaps in 2 games? I've seen much better RBs not produce in that many snaps.

Wouldn't that be a great momentum changer to take into the Playoffs? An actual good story at RB! In desperate need of one!

It will quickly end the moment he has to block for Dak and a 6'5" 250+ lb LB comes storming in, but enjoy the runs!

Exactly! He needs work just like any other back. He was scary good in preseason, all he needs is the ball in space. And for anyone saying he played against 3rd stringers in preseason, remember he also had 3rd stringers blocking for him.
They need to have the golf cart close by when he gets shaken like a rag doll!!

The Lions are good against the run but 23rd against the pass.

I wouldn't mind seeing Deuce run wild but the Cowboys' strength is passing and the Lions' weakness is stopping it.

I'm surprised they at least haven't used him situationally.
I think they would have liked to, but he's too small to help on special teams and the coaches couldn't justify activating him over Dowdle or Luepke that do help there.

So they would have used an active gameday roster spot on a player that would only be in on a few gadget plays. Tonight will be different since he will be the primary backup to Pollard.

I think what we''ll be talking about is how easily tackled he is.
That's what bothered me the most in his regular season play. I guess it's a different ballgame going from preseason to regular season. Looked elusive as hell in preseason, but they were taking him down with ease in regular season games.

We simply have an incomplete O due to not having a primary.

If you're going to do RB by committe, and there are obvious advantages to it, you absolutely must have a chain mover. Only one we have is Luepke, and we won't give him the ball.

Did you know that before the fumble thingie, Luepke had all of 5 carries for the season? And suddenly we give him the ball on a key play in a very important game. On a play that appeared to be an audible or something. Think about that, man, that attempted handoff was a clusterfudge of the first order. Purely on the coaching staff. If you're going to give him the ball there, and it was not a bad idea, make sure the kid knows it's coming.

Look how many games we've played this year w/ garbage time. Do you think that MAYBE the guy you wanted key goalline carries from should have MAYBE gotten some practice carries in during blowouts? Hades, why not let him have a few carries vs SF or BUFF, they were beating the crap out of us anyway.
What makes you think Luepke has ever been anything other than JAG for this team?

He was unfrafted.

This narrative that Leupke is a key to anyone’s plans is strictly FanZone fantasy. Much the same as Deuce.

They are “pet cat” players that some fans have adopted.

Pet cat or not, I don't understand the angle that Vaughn is a "bust" since this will only be the 7th game he's been active for.

He was a 6th round pick. Nobody should have expected more anyway. Meanwhile the 4th round pick (Viliami Fehoku) and 5th round pick (Eric Scott) picked BEFORE Deuce have played a grand total of zero games between them.

Fehoku of course suffered that phantom "injury" when Dallas needed a roster spot.

If he's even active... if Davis isn't at 3 call ups, he's probably getting called up.
They've already said he'll be active. Davis has used his 3 call ups. They can't do that with him again until the playoffs.

I can't wait for the tush toss where they just pick him up and throw him over the line of scrimmage into the end zone
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......is that legal? I mean, just get Tyler to pick him up and heave ho. Why not? What's the difference?
