What if the situation with the Clippers happened with the Cowboys?

What do we do, what would you do? The travesty in LA is one that every one and their mother has an opinion on. Should the Clippers play? Should the fans black the game out by wearing all black? Should the fans boycott the game. SO many choices, so many inputs no clear cut answer. A lot of reasonable people are waiting patiently on the NBA commissioner Adam Sliver to reign down his ruling on what will happen to the Clippers owner. Many believe that he (the Clippers owner, which I will not mention by name) should be removed from the team. This is a choice that could happen, IF a 75% majority of the voting NBA board chooses to remove him from the league. This option, being a Democratic one doesn't seem like a vote that will be held within a reasonable amount of time that we will even care about it IF it were to happen. Lets be realistic, in this country we are a missing child, government official scandal or plane crash away from not caring about this issue at all.

When a situation this big occurs it is hard to fathom what the people of Los Angles have to put up with. This being a blog about a team in a separate state and sport. I must pose the question what would we do IF this was to occur within our city? With the owner of our beloved franchise.

Picture the situation. On an ordinary weekend in the winter. Cowboy's owner Jerry Jones is caught on tape making racist remarks to his girlfriend. Not only does he make remarks similar to the Clippers owner. Let us remember, Jones as the Clipper's owner is married and therefore is unearthed as an adulterer. As we all know that Dallas is in a very religious state. The implications that Jones is a racist and an adulterer are two issues that right wing Texans now have to face.

Sterling just got banned for life from the NBA and clippers..

Moving this thread from the main board to the sports forum because it belongs here an not on the main board. However, I'm going to caution everybody.

Do not allow this thread to become political or it will be removed and posters will be dinged. We just closed this topic earlier today on another thread and while we think this is an important topic, there is no room on this board for political or racial behavior of any kind.

Thank you,

ABQ

What can you do? He's an 80 year billionaire that has a horribly twisted view on the world and it's way too late to change it at this point. You can't make an impact on his pockets enough for him to actually care, and boycotting the game all together kinda makes a crappy situation for the players doesn't it?

The all black thing is a good idea for what it's worth I guess. But honestly the only thing that will help the situation is if Sterling dies soon. Let him and the situation go away for ever so everyone can move on.

I think your missing the focus of the topic, if this situation happened with the cowboys as fan how would you react?

I think its absolutely pathetic that this kind of warning has to even be issued (not calling you pathetic at all) -- the fact that anyone would attempt to turn a discussion over a clear-cut, bona fide, open and shut racist into a political discussion and therefore warrant a warning is sad, to say the least.

My point was that I have no clue because there's nothing I really could do. I'm an out of state fan who spends less than $100 a year on merchandise....what power do I have to make any kind of impact? In my opinion there's nothing any player, coach, fan, ect can do. It needed to be handled by the people who actually have some authority which is the league. And on paper it seems as if the nba did a decent job

Maybe people don't want to play a what if game over what they think is a silly premise when there is a real situation happening to another sports team.

Im pretty sure the people of LA dont think racism is "silly"

The owner, the figurehead is not and does not represent the material thing that is the team. Yes, even if they are the owner.

I would still love the cowboys the same and simply treat the owner as if he never existed.

Sigh.

I am talking about turning a real life situation into a silly premise of a what if game.

In case im tripping and you DIDNT just delete my comment..This IS a real life situation, a situation that could happen in Texas just as well as it happened in LA, It is the south STILL....

I did not delete your comment.

You took a real situation., turned into a game of what if the cowboys owner it. When someone responds about real life situation instead of the what if scenario you say they are missing the what if topic you created. I. Respond with maybe some don't want to real situation to silly premise of a what if game.

I do not care if it is in the south, in Boston or where it is... Some people find turning it into a what if scenarios silly.

If you don't get what I am saying I guess I will drop it cause you don't get it.

Your question is silly, not because it can't happen, but because it did just happen. If you want to know what the reaction would be, check out the thread. Some people would be okay with what was said and would find a way to rationalize it into making sense, and other would be pretty upset.

And FWIW, Jerry drinks and can't shut his mouth and it cost us a back to back SB winning coach. If Jerry had these feelings inside him, we would know it, so it won't happen with us, not while Jerry owns the team.

Nope they don't think it is silly because they are actually going through it. It is real. The hypothetical situation pondered in comparison is silly, relatively speaking.

It hasn't happened. What is the point of bringing this up? Jerry is not a racist.

To the OP - this is a good question to ask. A lot of the problem with this topic in America is people dismissing it rather than facing the ugly truth and trying to educate others and overcome bigotry.

Keep fighting the good fight.
