We could hire a young coach but that doesnt mean he is the best guy for the job.

Someone who comes in and is creative and takes chances .....
I dont know if any of these names being thrown around (Ryan,Rivera) will be that way in Dallas .....
But I know what Wade Phillips is ...... a good coach who is a better coordinator and is in his 60's ....
I dont want another stop gap.

I would rather our coaching staff be Carrie Underwood, Amy Lee (for the Goth in all of us), Jessica Simpson, Britney Spears, Eva Longoria and Kirsten Dunst, but alas that won't happen.

I think it would make a lot of difference. However, Spags just made a good point on Talking Cowboys: "Why hasn't this guy been contacted more in the past few years if he's such a great candidate?" It could be he didn't want to deal w/ owners and the press. His biggest problem was he didn't seem to win to many PO games. BTW, was he coaching Buffalo when they lost on the "Music City Miracle". He must have won something to get there.
I like the Norv, Garrett, Singletary (or an in-house candidate) combo.
I also would not be unhappy w/ Mora Jr. as HC, but we'd need a OC to keep him from getting too conservative, a problem that cost his Daddy his career.
I also like Dan Reeves very much, but he has a tendency to play to not lose, although he did make the SB w/ two different teams. Actually I think Fassel took Reeves' Giants to the SB in 2000. W/ the results Fassel has had since then, it had to be Reeves doing that the 2000 Giants were so good. Another negative for Dan is his prior health issues and his age...

I could care less if the guy is young or old as long as he is the best fit for the Dallas Cowboys.
Its not like Wade Phillips has been a loser in this league. He has had success in Buffalo.
Plus he runs a crazy style of defense. I want our defense to look something like the Chargers next season whether Phillips comes here or not.

I think Catch does have a point, even if it's kind of awkward to talk about.
Let's face it, Phillips looks kind of like a buffoon -- like a fat, sloppy, good-ol'-boy. And an old one, at that. I think Catch is asking if that has something to do with the negative opinion of him that so many seem to have.
I think it probably does.
And it's not just Catch. Norm was saying this morning that Rex Ryan would have to "clean up his act" a little if he wanted to be considered seriously as a head coach.
Fair or no, the perception is that if you look that sloppy, you might not be that competent. Not to mention these days of having to represent the franchise on TV so much.
